I'm just trying to put things in perspective here . To be fair to him -the kid has been asked to move around a lot on this terrible i call offensive-offense line . That can mess up a person rhythm especially in this position and any former olineman can tell you that . Seriously. Granted he does look a lot heavier and slower. Also I know we are all upset about this position group in particular brother but is it worth an attack on a kid who just so happens to play for a team we all love and root for? No shade at you but remember he is an growing young man first , college student 2nd and most of important of all someone son. IJS


P.S. - I have no bond with this player it's just the former coach in me that knows whats acceptable in all aspects in football and in life. Sometimes we have to hold ourselves accountable even when we are as adults as well.

To answer your question, yes he’s been awful all year and he hasn’t moved around any this year. He started as a true freshman G and was moved to RT for his sophomore year but was moved back inside after about 7 games. He’s been at LG all spring and fall camp. He should not be this bad out there.

I’m not attacking the kid personally, from all reports he is a great young man. It’s just his play this year has been really really bad.

He’s so fat and out of shape he can’t even pull, or if he does pull it’ll take five minutes to get to the defender he’s blocking.

I cant remember the game but Enos had him pull on a play action , to help sell the run, Williams had to drop to the ground or he might have been killed lol. Maybe it was unc.

He’s really bad.

I’m actually surprised that haven’t flip flopped him and gaynor since the staff said ND played well at center. Gaynor would be a far more athletic option at guard and ND would just be helping people at center , less chance he falls on the ground.

Respectable answer brother!

Not coming at you at all... I don't do that here family unlike others. Just some cats on here do get out of pocket and think its cool to address some kids in a manner on messages boards but won't dare tell the young bull to his face or the men in his family that support his well being. I have not paid close attention to him personally because I'd like you and everyone else probably thought it was no need to honestly. Thought we would be good with him and he will take care of business. He has gotten slower I must say from a glimpse of what I've seen. Now with that said , since you seem to notice where he lacks. Do you have a suggestion or an answer on how we could fix his production?

Right now since I haven't paid too much of the details of #55 play. I cannot comment on it too much because I'm not one of those that just likes to ramble off and haven't really paid attention. I can't stand that! I for one think that everything can be fixed in life. So my innovative mind wants to know what we could do to fix this issue/ problem? You or anyone reading this portion? What can we do? I will take a closer look at him this SAT myself and analyze his play and I will probably have a suggestion and come back to this post.

We always expect progression and development.
When we look for and don't see that growth, it is disappointing as ****.
Can't blame the young man, but those who need to help him............... have been derelict in duty.
If he read some of these posts, think of his feelings as he reps our U?...
We need improvement, but it is not all on him.
I feel for him.

I respect it brotha. I’m one of the last people to talk about players performance. It takes a lot for me to do it. I’ll never talk about a player in any other terms than play on the field.
 
That’s the biggest reason i have no faith in butch and if he’s not gone at the end of the season we know manny ain’t serious about winning.
Not having talent is one thing. But to take the guys from last year and actually make them worse is something else. Not to mention guys like scaife and gaynor don’t look like they improved from last year.

Donaldson is worst. After all he's a JUNIOR. In contrast to a ex-2-Star HS recruit, who happens to be starting as a true freshmen.

Last year, he was on the line with Tyree St Louis and Gauthier. The year before add McDermott and Trevor Darling. None of them will make us forget about Bryant McKinney or Leon Searcy but I guess it matters being surrounded by upper classman even though they were only serviceable.
 
As bad as Zion has been, I wonder if he's not used to his new weight. He reportedly put on something like 600 pounds in 2 days, so it's gotta be hard for him to get out of his stance. 😱
 
here´s a real question. i think generally we can agree that the team appears to be in better shape, plus we´ve seen fewer injuries this year, at least so far. Donaldson is one of the few that looks as bad if not worse than we he got here. conditioning is a big element of playing OL and he ain´t gone none.

Does uf have more than one 4 star on their line. Barry is doing what the last four ol coaches have done. #nothing

Its simple, alot of people bashed coach searels, but his strength as an o-line coach was on the interior with the center and guards, which is why he was actually able to get hayden mahoney playing at a high level and of course navaughn was a Freshman all everything. Second year, worst move he made was asking to be a tackle, reshaped his body and hasnt been as strong since. 3rd year, in comes butch barry and his new techniques, the techniques barry's teaching are real solid in the run game, but pass blocking wise it has navaugn off balance, he's out their thinking to much in pass sets instead of going back to attacking in pass pro sets! And the enos already playcalling hasnt been the best either for Zion nor donaldson!
