If we go 3 -1 and play well against fsu, and win a bowl I'll feel good going into next season.
That isn't why I asked.
If Al goes 5-3 for the THIRD STRAIGHT SEASON (0-4 to FSU), what does that tell you about Al and Co?
You can't deny the big picture. It tells me we're not where we want to be. But I don't think that's als ceiling.
Holy ****s in my mouth. He's 1-22 against teams with 8 or more wins. Never beat a team with less than 5 losses at miami. How ****ing high could his ceiling possibly be? Is there another football league where he consistently beats good teams that I don't know about? How do you people keep defending him? Even the worst coaches in all of CFB get lucky and beat a better team from time to time, but not Al. How high is his ceiling exactly? Because at this point he's proved that he literally, statistically, convincingly can't beat an average team(8-5 or better).
He'll gain 2 wins against teams with 8 or more wins this year unless Arkansas State and Duke completely collapse. Though, Arkansas State is not anything to brag about when you are Miami.
All I am going to say is I was on here saying I didn't like Golden and was hoping he'd be gone based off the results in the first half of the season. After watching the VT game 3 times over now, it brought be back just a tiny bit. The defense played 10x more aggressive and we were matching personnel more than ever before and even loading up the box when needed. If the team keeps that up and we roll through the rest of the schedule besides FSU, then I don't know where I will stand. If, and it is a big IF, we win out including the FSU game, then I will probably be a Golden supporter again.
I know it's cool to hate on Golden here and I am not saying he hasn't earned a good amount of the criticism. I also know that our fan base is impatient as are most this day in age and I also know that the quick turnarounds like Auburn are not the norm or else they wouldn't be big stories when they happened. I'm not a Moper or a Slurper. I just take what I see and digest it. What I saw before the Cincinnati game was enough to make me sick. What I have seen since the Cinci game makes me think just maybe these coaches can grow into the job. Only time will tell.
We're in the same boat. I want to be wrong. I want to crown him, I want us to be winners under golden. But the problems are so deep and wide spread that it's become impossible to ignore. If we beat Fsu I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong and flip the script. No problem. But we all know (secretly) that won't happen. He's out of his league, coaches scared in big games. We've been blown out in 6 of his last 14 games, to expect something different is insanity
