is al tryin to keep his job?

Maybe, just maybe, Nebraska is a good team. Maybe.

Oh. Got it we should lose to good teams. Maybe we should find a coach who can beat the good teams?
no, but when you lost to good teams, you don't mope about it.. especially when you're picked to be an above average team to begin with. We can't pretend this is the 01 canes that lost to some 4 loss nebraska team..

Oh. Got it when you lost to good teams, don't mope.

What about when you lost by double digits to good teams? Does that change anything?

like i said, if this were the 01 canes, sure, this is the 2014 canes, who by all accounts (unbiased) were a 7-9 win team.. if i'm racing a lexus v. a porsche and i lose, i can't be mope about it.
You must feel like that Lexus every time you see that Porsche cloaked as "2+2=...".

You can forgive the neb and gt losses? Say what? This is year 4, we shouldn't have these kind of losses in year 4.

golden doesn't have the mental make up to be coaching at this level. We have talent. But we don't have the staff to beat a better team with a better staff at x and o. And if they can't do that, why prolong the inevitable?

Maybe, just maybe, Nebraska is a good team. Maybe.

They are a decent 1 dimensional team that we have more talent than. Is that the expectation when we play a decent team is to lose? Or more the reality? I'm going with reality with the 4 years of data that I have.
pelini's been there for 7 8 years, while we may have recruited better than they have in the time that golden has been here, that doesn't mean we're a better team.

LOL are you ******* kidding me. So now the excuse is we can't beat a team coached by a longer tenured HC than us??? Where do you guys come from, seriously. You have to be flipping burgers for a living. NO way you could so anything else.

I am shocked we lost to Petrino under that logic.

What the **** does it matter that Nebraska is a good team? That makes losing to them ok? We should strive to be a great team.

This is the line of thinking that the Golden supporters use that blows my mind. So we were picked to be an average team, that means losing to good teams is acceptable? News flash, this is his fourth year, just because we were picked to be average and are having an average season, doesn't make it ******* acceptable! It's his job to have us as an elite team. If the team is average and can't beat better teams, thats his fault for not fielding a better team. If the team is good and we can't beat good teams, that his fault for being a ****** game day coach!

Some of you act like Golden draws names out of a hat in the offseason and has to coach with the players he draws. He built this team, if we're average and not good enough to beat better teams, that's his issue.

LRG probably doesn't have kids, or contact with outside humans judging by the pictures he's posted here, but think of it likes this. If your kid doesn't study for a test, goes in thinking they're going to fail, and then proceeds to fail, does that make it ******* ok? Do you sit there and say, "Well since you didn't think you were going to pass anyways that makes it fine," or do you get ****ed off that they weren't prepared to do well?

The same **** applies to our performance.

Great post. Truth...

Al is not coaching to keep his job, Al is coaching to move on to another program. He doesn't want to be here...didn't the beginning of this season teach us anything? W/ all the scrutiny and all the anti-Al posters we have going around, he's looking for a way out. Al is hoping a sub-par mediocre team takes a flyer on him like we did so he can look like a hero playing in a subpar conference. At Temple, 8 and 9 wins were acceptable...not here. We play for chips, even if we ourselves have been subpar since 2005...but that's not our history....just like Bama before Saban got there and they were the bottom feeders of the SEC, that wasn't there history. Al is now realizing that. I guess he thought we were a laid back fan base b/c we have South Beach and the yatchs and blah, blah, blah....welp, he was rudely mistaken and now I know he wants out. Him bombing makes him unattractive to another program...him winning and having our team competitve have him looking nice for another sucker.

you may want to reread, nowhere did i say that we can't beat a team coached by a longer tenured coach. The argument is that "we're more talented" which may be true, we may have more talent... but that doesn't make us the better team, yet. Especially when the bulk of our talent are underclassmen.

striving to be a great team is one thing. being unrealistic is another. this team was not going to be a 10-12 win team.. that's just the truth... Al golden doesn't even have a real class of seniors yet. When you're supposed to suck, and you do, *****ing about it isn't going to get you anywhere.. if you're supposed to be good and you suck, that's a different story.

attrition and NCAA has hurt him but aside from FSU, none of the teams we have lost to the last 2 years except maybe louisville last year have more talent.

So you expected Golden to have built an elite team under the **** this program faced the last 3 years with the NCAA crap going on? Golden faced a major rebuilding job to begin with without the threat of NCAA sanctions looming.. That just made it more difficult. But yeah let's live in make pretend world and pretend that didn't impact the team in a major way.
U ***ers need a dose of reality jeesh..

Corner turned!

That was a great win against a great VT team in Blacksburg! Blacksburg!

Give that man a long contract extension and huge raise. Stat!

Glad to see a reasonable voice in a sea of out of kilter expectations. When's the last time we beat VT in Blacksburg? Almost 10 years ago. A diamond doesn't come out of the ground cut and polished.

Larry Coker said our "expectations were out of kilter." Shannford and Golden have changed the expectations of a lot of fans. Job well done by Richie Kotite 1 and 2.

that's what i don't get.. this was a rebuild just based on randy's incompetence.. logically, this wasn't going to be helped by the ncaa stuff.

Since 2010 the following programs have had an infamous cloud(an investigation and at least 2 years of probation): Ohio State, Boise State, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, South Carolina, Baylor, UCF, Oklahoma, Florida State, Alabama. Funny, I don't hear them making excuses for not playing in conference championships and BCS bowl games.

It must be that our cloud is meaner.

Really.. U really this dumb? Since you keeping track of NCAA investigations please list when they started, when they ended, sanctions levied.
