is al tryin to keep his job?

I am in the fire al golden camp, not the fly the banner camp I just would like him replaced with a win at all costs type of guy. I understand those who want us to lose and want to fly a plane but I think I just makes us look bad and hurts recruiting.

I was very impressed with the win over vt and I rally like what I saw on defense. People say vt sucks and that may well be the case but none the less we beat them like they were a crappy team and thats all you can ask for. My biggest issue with this coaching staff is that they were just to passive on defense and just not giving them a chance to make plays. I didnt see that this game, just look at the first 2 series. Armbrister shoots the gap makes a great play and causes the punt, next series grace gets the sack and causes the punt. After our second series on defence I knew would have a chance to win.

For me I feel al is changing a little and at least giving the defence a chance to show what they can do. If he stays on this course I predict very good things for this season not only years to come. This is the best I have felt about this all year. It is not likely but if we only lose to fsu the rest of the way and play them tuff I feel good going into next season. If we should beat fsu (which I highly doubt, they got the best player in the game and they know how to use him) then watch out. People love to crap on us but when we show a pulse people take notice quick. We were ranked in the top 10 last year before duke went down. I am willing to forgive the Nebraska and gt losses if al can show me that he that he gets it now.

At the end of the day we are talented and we have some elite talent in spots right now with more coming. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that we have a qb.............. that is a game changer coupled with a good young line and talent at rb, te and wr that I dont need to speak of. The question is only about defense which may be getting a chance to show their stuff. I feel good. This could be the start of something special.

You can forgive the neb and gt losses? Say what? This is year 4, we shouldn't have these kind of losses in year 4.

golden doesn't have the mental make up to be coaching at this level. We have talent. But we don't have the staff to beat a better team with a better staff at x and o. And if they can't do that, why prolong the inevitable?
 
the VT win set us back a year, minimum. I always want a win, but I would have rathered a back into a Double OT win against probably the worst VT tech team I have seen in 25 years than the win we had. Golden took the noose off the neck he had on because of that win.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I don't believe golden is as dumb as we think he is. I just think he's an arrogant prick that thinks he has it all figured out in that wack *** binder to mediocrity. Golden knows what it takes to win at um but he wants to be sooooo **** right about that binder he will drown trying to make it a best seller.

And that's why I want him gone no matter what. Can't put friendships, personal goals, and selfishness above the university, fans, and the players.

Golden deserves all of the negative energy. His self centered attitude has set him back from being a great coach.

Don't worry, he will put it back on. He only won the games against Duke and VT because they made the required mistakes and offense had good games. Al will not, can not, beat a decent team that does not make multiple mistakes. His D is designed for only that. He has no ability to stop other teams, only pray for mistakes. Anyone who just sticks the ball in the stomach of big back running up the middle over and over again will beat us. Al's default is to drop DP further and further back when that happens to prevent "long" runs. Our players beat VT despite Al not because of Al.
 
Again Golden's job has never been in jeapordy. What is so hard to understand about that?

Al is not coaching for his job. Franklin, Williams and D'Onfrio barely are. All is good as we must trust the process and execute as they call perfect games

I don't think there should be any debate regarding getting rid of Al. He's obviously isn't a good coach at this level, cannot beat top 25 teams, very average recruiter, worst defensive teams in the history of the program, cannot develop players, unwanted by fan base, empty stadium and more importantly has long time Canes Fans wishing we lose to hastened his departure. This can only get worse so why not go ahead and fire Al.

He makes $2m a year, yeah he's trying to keep his job. No, he hasn't changed anything. I'm glad we beat VT, but they for real suck and so do we. Stay strong, stay the course, fire Golden, it's gotta happen.
 
I just dont understand when playing against these teams that wanna run run run that you dont attack attack attack

forgive my xbox 2004 NCAA football experience but when I played triple option teams and teams like nebraska I would blitz at least 80% of the time

sure you might get burned here and there but i'd rather disrupt that crap then sit around and die by it bit by bit

attack attack attack blow it up behind the line of scrimmage before it ever gets going
 
Coaching one on one nope im not a coach but have common sense, you make a team beat you with what they are weak at, Nebraska and GT you make them beat you passing. You you force your cbs to cover one on one and load the box. We haven't played one team yet who can do both yet

Maybe, just maybe, Nebraska is a good team. Maybe.
