Gabriel is looking pretty mid at Oregon
He’s completing 85% of his passes and has over 600 yards and 4 touchdowns with no picks through two games.

Don’t confuse Oregon’s struggles with his. He’s played well.

I liked Riley Leonard before he got to ND, primarily because his mom is smoking hot. But, he looks like he has regressed to the point that they don’t show mom anymore

The defense has not been their problem, could he be a candidate for the permanent job?

They’re not going to go that route again especially given that Golden already failed as an HC at the major level.

They’re next HC will likely be an existing P4 HC.

What their 247 guys say about their offense today:

Quarterback Performance
  • CJ Carr threw 3 interceptions:
    1. A wobbly deep ball picked off by Tae Johnson.
    2. Another interception by Johnson after Carr threw across the field.
    3. A tipped pass caught by Karson Hobbs after KK Smith dropped an easy completion.
    1. Carr also had a pass batted down by Loghan Thomas.
    2. Despite the turnovers, he showed flashes with some completed passes and mobility on designed runs.

  • Kenny Minchey had 1 interception:
    1. He threw a middle pass that Adon Shuler picked off during 7-on-7 drills.
    2. Minchey also made several smart plays, including throwing the ball away under pressure, showing good decision-making.

  • A fan comment defended both QBs, attributing Carr’s turnovers to varied causes (one bad throw, one great defensive play, one receiver error) and expressed confidence in Coach Marcus Freeman’s ability to prepare the team.
Offense Overview

  • The practice lasted 90 minutes, emphasizing fundamentals in light gear as part of NCAA acclimatization.
  • Carr worked with the second-team offensive line.
  • Offensive line starters included: Knapp, Schrauth, Craig, Absher, and Wagner.
  • Notable skill players: Jeremiah Love, Jaden Greathouse, Jordan Faison, Malachi Fields, Eli Raridon, Micah Gilbert, Kevin Bauman, Jadarian Price, and Will Pauling.
  • Love had standout moments, catching a deep sideline throw and a cut route for a big gain

Wide Receiver Performance

  • Despite Smith’s drop that led to a Carr interception, receivers performed very well overall:
    • In one drill, they went 16-for-16 on catches.
    • The wide receiver corps has seen significant improvement from recent years.
Special Teams

  • Noah Burnette had an average day, making some field goals (including from 45 yards) but missing others.
  • Erik Schmidt showed strong leg strength and kicked well overall.

I don’t care how good the defense might be, 4 picks by your QBs in summer ball in shorts ain’t great.

A little context.

One was on a 3rd and long play, Carr was trying to throw a deep midfield throw (which was predetermined before the snap). Safety playing Centerfield picked it off. It was like a punt.

One was an incredible play by a freak athlete who basically leaped up & one handed a throw on in over/under route where the under ran too deep, taking the DB with him, & Carr threw it to the over, but the DB being deep jumped HIGH with long arms & snagged it.

The 3rd Int was the final play of the period. A 3rd string WR ran an out route. Carr threw it right at him & the WR fell trying to catch it, the ball bounced off him, & another DB on the flat route turned & dove to catch it. If the WR wasn’t even there, the ball just goes out of bounds incomplete.

So that’s the 3 Carr INTs.
Pete Sampson, he just randomly put Carr had 3 INTs is a dope who always does stuff like that. Marcus Freemen called him out on it in the presser about not understanding what happened on those plays.

If you want an honest opinion of what happened at the ND practice, watch this show. These guys guest on a few Miami shows & do a good job. They aren’t sunshine pumpers, & are actually pretty negative & critical when things aren’t good.

They were giddy today. The main guy who doesn’t think the OL played up to their potential last year thinks they looked great today. He was shocked at how good they look. Great hands, footwork, bigger without losing mobility.
He thought the defense is elite. Blown away by the secondary & linebackers. Says the DL just look different than what ND has had recently.
He thinks the team overall is elite. He said best team he has seen in covering ND in 15 years.

This crew is the most sunshine pumping crew on the ND beat in my opinion. They talk too much like fans. Kind of have to when doing 3 hour shows a day though.
