IPF Question: New Weight Room

That locker room looks like it was build in the 90s. In all seriousness tho, our facilities outside of the IPF look outdated. There is no wow or cool factor about them. If you look at OU, Bama, Texas locker rooms there are large graphics, cool futuristic looking lockers, a over all sleek modern look. Ours looks like a very well off high school. The designs are very basic and practical. They knocked it out the park with the IPF.

It's amazing that the fanbase, that is so incredibly cheap that Miami had to CROWDFUND the IPF wants Miami to have a palace like a huge state school. Miami has poured MILLIONS into facilities over the last decade, but as we've seen, Miami made the facilities nicer than the old ones, but didn't go over the top. There's a reason for that, and it goes beyond actual finances(Which played a huge role). The reason WHY Alabama and Clemson have to go all out in regards to their facilities is because they are in the middle of bumble****. Miami doesn't, Miami can have competitive facilities(Which is exactly what these are), while also pointing out that you won't have to live in the facility, because you live in MIAMI. You don't need to have PS4s at every locker at Miami, because guess what? You are a solid car ride away from the beach and from all kinds of other stuff.

The kind of kid that would be overly impressed by the over the top "We have so much money that we have to spend it on crazy crap" schools are the ones that most likely aren't Miami kids. Those are the kids that will sign with whoever drops the biggest bag, or gives them the nicest whip. Miami isn't playing that game, and for good reason. Miami wants to show the kids that the athletic department is serious about giving them the tools they need in order to succeed, but that this is a workplace.

I don’t even want to think about it.

It isn't good, but what dorms are? It's amazing that dorms now have to be super plush, which drives up the cost to live in them. Guess what? Dorm were spartan for a reason, it made it incredibly cheap to live there. That said, the kind of kid that could get financial aid and make Miami a reality 10-12 years ago can't anymore, and I believe it is hurting the school somewhat. You need those hungry middle class kids on campus, it makes campus electric.

I'm all in favor of some updates, but let's be honest: The typical student athlete is living in UV or even better, depending on how they team up on roommates. Most student athletes can and do live in pretty solid accommodations, especially when one looks at what they have available financially. If true cost of attendance scholarships become a reality across the board, then it will be even better.

Like it or not, that’s the game. These are kids we are talking about. This is the age of social media and public perception. Most 5 stars could care less about the professionalism in the workplace miami offers. They want what looks cool. Or what’s trendy. Manny understands that and is making TNM cool again. It is what it is.

Oh well, then Miami has to move beyond the 5 star diva kids. Miami has to be the program that identifies and builds kids that not only have character, but can succeed in the environment Miami provides. This is why things like the transfer portal is so important. Miami has to find new, creative ways to get their hands on talent, seeing how the old ways of gathering talent is broken and tilted against Miami.

Can you see the IPF field from inside the weight room? Big glass windows?

Btw, the weight room in one of those pictures seems narrow.

I mean I hear you.

We bltch about the towers because it’s always the thing to do.

I was definitely one of those middle class kids. I never paid full amount, like a lot of others I stacked different kinds scholarships, grants etc. No way could afford the full amount.

Back to the dorms, was there only first year an a half and honestly didn’t spend that much time. Architecturally they’re bland looking, but it was a place to crash and get sleep so you can get to school the next day.

But we’ve got to have things that attract the top-notch players, because other schools are spending way more than we do. If we can continue to use our location as an advantage, and have really nice living quarters, which we are going to have, then it just makes it that more attractive to the four and five star recruits
