Iowa is going to get screwed over

The SEC bias in general is real but if we're being honest Alabama would wipe Iowa out on an neutral field.

They're only taking conference champions I believe, which they should at 4 teams. Once they expand to 8 then teams like Iowa will still have a shot despite losing their conference championship game.

Gotta win your conference, unless you're in the SEC. If there were no conferences, one could complain as much about Oklahoma. They lost to Texas. Texas.

Hopefully an eight-team format will come soon enough. Controversy and another billion in revenue will make it happen.

5 Champions from the Power 5 Conferences, play 3 at-large teams. If the highest ranked Group of 5 team is ranked in the Top N they get an an automatic at large berth. For legal reasons.

This year's playoff would be: Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, Stanford, and Michigan State.
At large teams might be Iowa, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

The thing about all of this playoff and ranking nonsense that bothers me is it is better to LOSE to a bad team than have it be a close game vs. a good team.

If you lose to a bad team that means you have another solid WIN against a good team which seems more important than how you lose. A loss is a loss but a win against a ranked team is more valuable.

Ohio State last year and look at OU this year. Loss to Texas yet won the final 3 games against highly televised ranked games vs Baylor, TCU, Okie State

LMAO. Iowa is nowhere near as good as Bama. Maybe you could argue OU. Great season for the Hawkeyes though.

Not to worry. Bama may be playing MSU in the playoffs....

Dantonio defense vs Saban defense - I'll watch that game....

Undefeated all season. Yet lose by 3 to a good michigan state team. Alabama is so overrated

Bama super overated.. any good qb can beat them. Their secondary is God Awful lol
Treon is horrible. There were open guys all day smh

As long as Bama loses in the playoffs I'm happy. **** them. It's disgusting watching every "analyst" crown them on a weekly basis.

Iowa. . . . should have lost to Nebraska. Look at the box score of that game. They are not playoff worthy.

This yeah, the four team playoff works. If it gets expanded, all we are going to see is more overrated SEC or Big 10 teams.

Iowa lost so nobody screwed them over. Come on...Iowa in the playoff only meant, a team would end up in the championship game having played a lesser opponent. Now that we got a playoff system, then regardless of the SEC bias, they can't keep a team from beating Bama, like Oklahoma and OSU did last 2 years.

Not looking for 8 team format - makes the regular season unimportant
- After loosing early Oklahoma and Bama had to win out to get into the playoffs - a bunch of teams could have beaten them and played their way in
- Same for MSU - had to beat OSU, Michigan and Iowa
- Clemson doesnt get in without beating FSU and Clemson

You lose a game the last game of the season and no matter what your record is, you ain't going to the playoffs. I think last team to do that was 2001 nebraska?

B1G was probably the best conference overall but Iowa benefitted from playing none of the other top-tier teams. They lost, although that game was a lot closer than most people expected. And I agree with poster above, Alabama would demolish Iowa, who lacks the passing threat that OSU had last year.

no oklahoma did it following their loss to kstate in 2004
