Interior OL vs Clemson

Then why doesn't translate into game action. Because Miami's offensive line has been AVERAGE all season long. Of course, the OL had it's moments against VT and mighty ND. dUh.

We're among the best protecting QB, especially sacks allowed. But one would actually have to watch games to know that, DUH.
Run blocking has been sporadic and isn't helped by Walton MIA and teams stacking box because Rosier's throwing is also sporadic. DUH.
Nothing to suggest our interior OL won't hold up against their DTs via pass rush. Running we'll see.

Only watched NC State game so far but wow is Clemson's DL overrated. Good post ^ btw.

ND and VT were supposed to have good DLs and those were 2 of the best rushing days for Miami. FSU was the best DL Miami will face this year.

NC State consistently got 3+ YPC vs. Clemson and their DTs in particular were invisible. They don't penetrate upfield like McIntosh and Norton and on film they aren't as stout at the point of attack as ND's front.

Ferrell is athletic in space and capable of using his length for coverage sacks but none of their DL are dynamic 1on1 rushers. They rely on blitzes to get to the QB like Miami relies on games and blitzes with the odd Garvin rush or Harris effort sack.

(full scouting writeup coming tomorrow with a focus on Clemson's offense)

If someone is looking for a silver lining, just remember FSU's OL is worse than our OL and they had a puncher's chance. Make it happen.

Lu, the only silver lining will be if Clemson chooses to use a magnum silver colored condom when they push the sh*t so far up our guys' rectums, they will need to floss it out of their teeth. I try and be optimistic, but the clear thinking realist in me says the chances are pretty good we get embarrassed on national TV.

Man, I hope I am wrong.

You haven't heard? Everyone is allowed to hold against us.

Miami plays down to their competition, period. Clemson will not dominate us. I think we pull out new plays, and give Clemson misdirection looks. Just my gut, but w a new chip on the shoulder and a new disrespect to thrive on, we win by 12+.

Miami WON'T win by ' 12 points, ' or any double-digit margin. Haven't U heard the news today. This is mighty Clemson, IMiami is playing. Oh, and one more thing. The ACC is going to make sure the referee crew gives Clemson as much help as it can get away with. So look for some controversial NO CALLS, i.e, PI, holding, personal fouls, etc.,etc.,etc..:puzzled:

Bro, you ain't NEVA lied about this one.

You guys still don’t really get the riddle that is UM. When we show up, we can block anyone. When we don’t, we get whipped in the trenches on both side.

You know when I knew we were in trouble against Pitt? When that RB pushed Chad’s **** in and drive him 4 yards down the field. Should have been a stop and 4th down. Instead, Chad got used by a 200 pound RB and bent backward like a 175 pound CB. That never happens if we are playing with intensity.

If our big guys are getting pushed around by their smaller guys then think of what their big guys are doing to our big guys.

What should have everyone shivering is Malik versus Venables. We see a Malik similar to the one we’ve seen the last couple games, and they beat us unmerciful. The OL will be meaningless if Malik can’t make any throws.

We need to take advantage of the plays that will be there. We can’t consistently miss wide open receivers against Clemson, or they’ll get a feeding frenzy going on us.

No different than going against Bud. VT forced Rosier to have a crappy game - 50% compl, 3 INTs, etc. Thankfully, our defense came to play and VT had a bunch of TOs. We're not going to get so lucky with Clemson, I'm guessing. If Rosier plays against Clemson like he did against VT, we'll get killed.

Heck, Rosier doesn't even have to have a 70% completion game. We can win even if Rosier plays a crappy game. I'm hoping that VT and Pitt were his 2 worst games. He plays better than that, we have a puncher's chance.

Rosier made some huge plays against VT. We have a chance with that guy. We stand zero chance with the zombie we’ve seen for 6 of the last 8 quarters.

YEah, I think he'll get to have that chance (to make plays) again agianst Clemson. Surprisingly, Clemson blitzes a lot. I'm hoping a hyperaggressive defense allows Rosier to find lanes to run through.

I've made it through 3 games so far. I guess it's relative depending on what you consider they're "rated." They are talented. You disagree with that view? I still think we're relatively ok in pass pro - especially when we're not incredibly predictable (based on down, distance, scenario). Clemson's D also disguises better other teams I've watched, so that's something to consider in terms of Richt/Rosier.

VT.....all I gotta say.

VT DL is like the little giants compared to Clemson.......not one player on VT DL would start Clemson

All four are draft picks just like Clemson.

PS: know what you’re talking about before responding.

LOL , four draft picks.....vs 4 FIRST ROUND PICKS

Take a nap dude

We heard the same about ND's O-line, and we know how that turned out.

Only realistic way to stem a DL like Clemson's is to do to them what teams do to us:

- Hurry up
- Spread out
- Misdirection
- Quick pass game

Richt's creativity will be needed more than it has ever been during his time at Miami.

If you've actually watched Clemson this year the quick passing game isn't their weakness. The big chunks are what have hurt them, not the long sustained drives.

Not sure I agree with this one, man. I just watched Louisville do some stuff to them I think we can do - possibly better. Though some of it happened when the game was already in hand.

Richt/Rosier/Diaz have to be really off their games for us to get embarrassed.

I'm watching them in detail now. I started today. Quick passing game doesn't mean I'm asking for long sustained drives. It means I'm asking for quick drops. We can run vertical routes out of that style.

They disguise decently well in the games I've seen so far, though.

FWIW, watching the NC State game, and they had an unusual amount of long drives against Clemson in the first half.

- 1st TD was a short field after an INT. 40 yard pass.
- 2nd TD was a long drive. More than 10 plays. 4 first downs given up, 1 via PI. Ran it on them here.
- 3rd TD was a long drive. 10 or more plays. 5 first downs. Decent balance of run and pass.
- Last drive of 1st half was also 10 plays. QB runs. Missed a FG.

We'll see what happened in the second half. Didn't watch this game, as I think it was during a tailgate.

Hurry up is important here.

Their starting DL is talented but they don’t have our depth in the DL. They can’t send waves. Hurry up can wear them down and slow their rush later in the game.

Venables is a multiple DC. Hurry up will also limit his substitutions therefore limiting his exotic blitz packages and multiple personnel groupings.

This. Venables can be had but Malik doesn’t inspire confidence in this matchup.

Venables runs the gamet. Dude calls as much zone as man. Is as likely to send extra men as rush 3. Does a good job masking his blitzes and coverages.

Anyone that extremely worried about Clemson watch the FSU and NC State game. Teams paper thin at corner. This is a winnable game

More worried about what we will do than who they are. Game will be decided by Miami. We play like we did against ND, Clemson will lose.
