Interior OL vs Clemson

What concerns me more are their DEs - 7 and 99. They also disguise their blitzes very well. I'm more concerned about that than Wilkins and Lawrence tbh.

The interior OL held up reasonably well against FSU, VT, ND.

Let's see if they rise to the occasion.

Bryant and Ferrell at DE are an issue also. I think all four starters are projected first round picks.

The line played relatively well against FSU (pass protection) and VT so it's possible they can hold their own.

At best, we're going to lose as many man-on-man battles as we win vs their DL. We're going to have to be creative in getting the ball out.

I have to think MR realizes this. Their DL is nasty. We're going to have to do something to slow them down a step with misdirection and sleight of hand. I don't think we'll have a choice.

Roll the pocket
Use Rosier on designed QB runs from the RPO base
Screen them to death from all angles
Get the ball out immediately to the perimeter
Use the shovel pass that Pitt beat them with last year (would be perfect for Herndon, **** that loss looms large)

Only realistic way to stem a DL like Clemson's is to do to them what teams do to us:

- Hurry up
- Spread out
- Misdirection
- Quick pass game

I think their DTs, while good, are on the overrated side. Their better pro prospects are 7 and 99.

I don't think the talent and play gap between VT and Clemson is much as people are making it out to be


VT is a better defense as a whole and we did just fine, OL needs to show up and play but not like we're going against an NFL team or something here

This reminds me of the old Happy Days episode where Richie is scheduled to fight a local hoodlum and asks Fonzie for advice. Fonzie tells him to punch the guy as he's taking his coat off, Richie responds by saying so if I trick him I can beat him, Fonzie replies no you're gonna get killed but you can get at least one good shot in.

Clemson’s DL is a **** of a lot better than VT’s. That’s not even close. I don’t even see how anyone can try to dispute that. Bryant, Wilkins, Ferrell, and Lawrence will all be 1st-2nd round picks assuming they stay healthy. VT likely doesn’t even have a DL getting drafted in the 1st 3 rounds. The thing about Clemson though, they’re LBs and DBs don’t impress me. If our OL plays up to the our opponents level and Rosier doesn’t suck, we’ll be just fine. I think the plays will be there to be made, whether Rosier makes the accurate throws or not is a different story.

Also LOL at your thread because we’ve only allowed 22 sacks all year....that’s tied with Clemson. So tell me do you think we’ll do the same to their offensive line? Or did you make this thread based off an idiotic opinionation?
