Nevin was a pioneer, way ahead of his time.

I have to guess this will be the single biggest cluster**** we'll see this decade. And keep in mind this decade started out with governments from the entire planet locking their citizens in their homes over the ******* flu.

I cant wait to see the Ohio State QB commit who drops a mixtape at $50 per download and gets 485,000 downloads the first week.

100% agree

* these kids will focus more on trying to make money than school, playing football and getting better.
*reigning kids in to focus on football will be become secondary for the wannabes who think they can make money
*coaches gonna have their hands full
* some of these Kids will go into debt
* the big time kids will set up a subscription service to pay for their commitment video of their announcement, signing ceremonies etc

....here's a thing to monetize yourself.....stay out of trouble. focus on school and getting better at football. use the FREEEEEE schools resources to better yourself. SHOOT for the first round. these kids gonna worry so much about trying to make money off themselves they gonna lose hundreds of thousands of dollars because they aren't focusing on their skills to move up rounds in the draft..... AND DONT be a seminole or gaytor!!!!

people really think an 18 - 21 year old kid is going to be able to focus on football or school when trying to make money? lol

That’s the point. Yet I’m sure some Ohio state backer would be in on it and buy 1k copies. This is what worried me. Miami can do this legit and try to take advantage of the big city but other schools have such deep rooted networks of wealthy alumni who can out pay outs.

Forget the Charger or job for mom, the bidding wars are about to get real. Those little gifts are not gonna caught it anymore, they will be looking for annual endorsement guarantees before they sign.

This will be a gift and a curse IMO. The three conferences that stands to benefit the most from this should be the ACC,PAC 12 (15?) and Big10 (12?15? I don't even know anymore) because of the media markets. This will also give ND a little bit of pause in joining a conference.

But, at the same time, it will give the SEC schools coverage to "launder" their bag money.

The micro economic potential of this could be staggering.

*Nike schools are gonna be stretched thin because there are so many, but they will have the most representation.
*Jordan Brand and Adidas about to get real busy
*Not only are we in a top 20 market, but we were already known for swag, and we are Adidas' flagship program.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – On July 1, the new name, image and likeness (NIL) law will be in play for the Miami Hurricanes as the state of Florida has a bill in place to benefit college athletes.

“I’m excited for our guys,” head coach Manny Diaz said. “I’m hoping we have a competitive advantage with that. I think that’s one of the great advantages we can use here with our community in our city here in Miami.”

With the University of Miami campus in a large metropolitan area known internationally, Diaz is hopeful players will be able to take advantage of more opportunities such as endorsement deals or sponsorships.

“Obviously being where you know there’s a great economy like what we have here,” Diaz said. “As we tell our guys, they don’t put professional franchises in small towns and there’s a reason for that. So if you want to maximize your brand, you generally want to go where the people are. I think that can be a great advantage for our guys and hopefully we’ll get off to a great start on that on the first.”

Director of athletics Blake James believes the time the university and its athletes have had to prepare for Thursday’s change will prove beneficial.

“I think you’ll see a lot of things happen on Thursday,” James said on Packer and Durham on Tuesday. “We’ve had the benefit that kids at the schools in the state of Florida have known for over a year now that this was going to happen on July 1. So they’ve had time to be planning and preparing and getting ready to take advantage of it. Obviously with the news Monday the NCAA came out with—all of the students in the country are going to be able to have some type of name, image and likeness program that their institution puts in place, but our kids have that benefit of knowing for a year there’s an opportunity.

“In Miami, an international city, I think there’ll be a number of opportunities. With that said, I don’t think we’re going to see 400 kids signing major endorsement deals and sponsorships or anything like that, but I do think that the law that was put in place in Florida will do a good job in letting kids capitalize on their name, image and likeness.”
