Says he wanted to go to Miami and would have committed, but the NCAA mess scared him off. He and his father were scared UM was going to get hammered and that's why he committed to VT.

Some tangible proof that the NCAA thing really did hurt us the last few years.

I don't think anyone will disagree it hurt our '12 and '13 classes but I don't think it had any affect on our '14 class.

So? Did the cloud make Shayon Green cover a WR? Did the cloud give up 500 yards to Palmer-Trinity and Miami Country Day? I'm sure we did lose some recruits, but that's a lame excuse the coaches keep rolling out to cover the bigger issue they won't address (which is themselves).

No one is talking about the 14 class or any of that other bullsh*t. It was a tidbit that Drew Harris, a possible CURRENT recruit, just told in an interview about why he didnt commit to UM out of High School. Thought it was interesting to share, because there has been a lot of talk about the "cloud" over the last year, and a lot of debate over how much it really hurt recruiting. This is tangible evidence that the sh*t was definitely hurting us.

I agree, bro. It hurt the classes before and now that we are in the clear we got a pretty special group of young players coming in. Very excited to see guys like Berrios, CT, and McDermott on the field.. The class is still good even if we don't pull TV or Gaillard given we switch to a 4-3 (hopefully), but with one of those guys this class would be great.. Lets see how all ends in Wed., JC would be a great get.

Jeebus. Didnt say it was a loss. Point wasnt wether the kid would have qualified or not. Just that its a kid flat out saying he wanted to commit to UM, and didnt because of the NCAA mess. There arent many kids who have flat out gone on record and said that.

C4L, don't know why you bother trying. These mopes couldn't find sunshine at the beach in July.

Problem is noone ever doubted the cloud effected us getting recruits. We definitely lost some studs because of the cloud. The cloud had nothing to do with our staff not developing players well enough to not give up 500 yards a game to scrub teams.

C'mon try to pay attention to the thread, you can do it.

Cloud is gone now. Unfortunately so is our glorious past. The issue at hand is how to we get off the floor and start kicking some rear again. This class is extremely good. Not as good as it could or maybe should have been, but very good. It has talent all over the field and addresses everything we are missing except NT. It has 4 good DTs but no NT. Oline and DEs are 1st class and the rest provide seious upgrades. Would have been nice to get a another top RB to go with Joe, but Duke and Joe makes the best backfield we have seen since the last NC game. The issue is now purely coaching and leadership at the insitution. If Al and staff do not step up THEIR game, then Donna and Blake must be taken to task in huge way at end of year. Al has to delivery this year. If he makes some changes, like chaging D and DC then I can see giving him a couple more years. BUT if he insist that his way and his boy are the answer, then this year is it AND he must beat FSU to keep his job. No change = no more time. This year or bust. Blake should be considering replacement now and move quickly to save next year's recruiting class. If Al want to risk OUR U on his crap, then his job should be in the pot too.

Truth is anyone with common sense would know it affected recruiting. The question is how much. There seems to be no in between on the issue. A lot of y'all act like without the 'cloud' Miami would have signed every top prospect in Florida. And the other side acts like the cloud had no affect at all. The truth is somewhere in the middle.
