Interesting Stat

Miami is 9-3 when Florida State comes into Miami ranked in the top 10.

Do with that what you like, I'm not here trying to blow smoke or throw shade. Just a stat.

I'm gonna guess and say 2 of those losses belong to Butch and the other belongs to Coker?

Not sure where Pete got this stat from but I'm pretty sure this stat is inaccurate.

Butch alone lost to FSU 5 times when they came in ranked in the top 10 from 1995-99.

__ DATE__ SCORE LOC AP COACH
10/07/1995 L 41-17 A 1
10/12/1996 L 34-16 H 3
10/04/1997 L 47- 0 A 4 4
10/10/1998 L 26-14 H 8 9
10/09/1999 L 31-21 A 1 1

Coker is actually 5-2 against FSU winning the first 5 from 2001-2004. 4 of the 9 wins were Top 10 wins are under Coker.

He lost his last 2 in 2005 and 2006 by scores of 10-7 and 13-10. FSU was ranked 14 and 11 in those 2 games.

Hold up, JerseyCane said that Coker's loss in 2006 was to an FSU ranked 10th in both polls, but this says different:

The Seminoles were given a preseason ranking of #10 in the Coaches Poll and #11 in the AP Poll

Our game was their first game. So that means, they were ranked in the top 10 in only one poll. BWAHAHAHAHA!!! And I'm now on ignore because of this. OH NOOOEEESSS!!!:hair-fire:

LMFAO I guess that would make JC wrong once again.

I'll let the board decide...should I do it to this moron or just let him believe that he's as smart as he thinks he is?

Do it, it's justified.

Oh, he did. But he was wrong.

If we beat FSU then the REP limit will be removed for the rest of the weekend.

We have some polite fans on this board. Nice to see that everyone is so open minded and accepting.

He is correct based on Pete's stats of 9-3.

Otherwise we would be 9-2 if you don't count the 2006 loss.

Who? 1985? JC? And if 2006 is considered one of the losses then 2012 should be as well.

This past Saturday, I watched about five minutes of the garbage they call College Gameday. I happened to see an interesting stat. Penn State was 35-1-1, all-time, against Maryland. With this new information in mind, and knowing essentially nothing else about either program, I promptly texted my good friend who happens to have graduated from Penn State. I told him Penn State was going to lose to Maryland. He said no way. I said watch. I didn't watch the game because I have better things to do than watch terrible football (unless it's the Canes), but based on his texts, I'm pretty sure Maryland beat Penn State that day.

If you made it this far in my post, you're probably asking yourself, what is the meaning to all of this? To that I can only say, I'm not quite sure. Take from it what you will.

Nate Silver predicted today that Maryland beat PSU last Saturday.

Well 2006 was game one so there was no BCS ranking yet. In 2012 the BCS ranking for FSU was 12.

It's an "interesting" stat, but those 9 wins came in...

1988 when we were ranked #6
1990 when we were ranked #9
1992 when we were ranked #2
1994 when we were ranked #13
2000 when we were ranked #7
2002 when we were ranked #1
2004 (OB Game) we were ranked #10
2004 when we were ranked #5

1980 was the only time we were unranked

We won those games because we were **** good.

So only one unranked Miami team has beaten a top-10 FSU.....we Fcked!!!

Lol I hate when people say throw the stats out when its a rivalry game, lol. No you don't, you throw them out when they are closely matched. The better team usually wins. So far this year and discounting last year, FSU is not much better than us. We have inept coaches which have kept Miami down, being harded and unwilling to change and adjust.

Actually, all the important stats point to this being a VERY close football game.

Well, there were only 4 meetings where FSU was top 10 and Miami was unranked. We are 1-3 in those games and our only win came at home. So at home we are 1-1 against a Top 10 FSU team when we are unranked.

Hence I say they are not much better than us. Their high ranking is based a lot of what they did last year. Are we gonna break their heart? That's the question, we have nothing to lose. They will be highly favored

Agree on the stats but to blame the games on just the coaches is a little too much. The NFL and recruiting services all disagrees with you on who has the better players. Rivalry games are great because anything can happened.

Dude your gonna lose the argument all the time because Duke and GT and all those teams that's not only beat us, blew us out either had comparable drafts than us over the years Golden has been year. Duke had 1,6th round CB drafted last here. 1 single players. But I dont want to debate that because as with everyone who brings this up the excuse will start change by the post. Coaching makes players better, make jags solid players, like Duke is doing, OK St, teams like that, Baylor. That's coaching. They have nowhere near the talent we have to choose from. Know what you have, put them in position to win, if you don't win, make it a tough as game. We get blown out. That's coaching
