Interesting stat on Oregon’s O-line

Hendon Hooker is another kid that wasn’t exactly lightly the world on fire at VT. Now he looks really good at Tenn. it sure helps to have better talent around you as a QB especially upfront.
Hooker looks that way because of the system he is in. Tennessee’s offense isn’t any more talented than ours. the players look more talented because their coach caters to their strengths.

Tennessee is running the same O that UCF ran when Josh was OC. It isn’t catered to Hooker. Hooker fits the O and has been in it for 2plus years.

they are the number two scoring offense in the country with less talent than us and you think Heupel isn’t catering to his teams strengths?

i never said it was a different offense than Heupel ran at UCF. it’s the Briles system. probably the best system in CFB, and that’s because of how versatile it is. we’ve seen everyone form Drew Lock to RGIII to D’Eriq King have success in that system. three completely different QBs.

Your own post contradicts itself. Is he catering to his team's strengths or is it the best system in CFB? I lean more towards the system being great and he has had a few years to get it implemented before reaching these levels of execution.

I'm not a Gattis fan. Runs a ton of the same plays and concepts over and over and over again that don't build into bigger plays. That said, I doubt that our OL is remotely as talented as Tennessee. I'd also take Hyatt over any of our WRs. Lastly, he has had just over 10 months on campus.

Pretty sure Mario did miss on Dorsey, Brady, and a few others before landing on Gattis. I'm good letting this play out as we are 4-4 with no chance of getting to 8-4/9-5 thus, let Gattis write his own ending.

this is hookers second season in the offense I believe. he was really good in the offense last year too. hes only played for heuphal for a year and half and has been almost immediately great in that offense. he had nearly 3000 yards, 68 percent completion, and 31 TDs-3 Ints last year.

I don't doubt that the system is good. I'm a big Briles tree fan. Joe Brady is a Sean Payton guy and that would have worked for me as well.

All that said, the UT OL >> VT OL. I'd also say Hyatt over any WR from VT in recent history.

that system makes it though. he didnt explode offensively bc of the diff in talent. its how Tennessee schemes that offense. its so creative too in terms of what they do and theyre not afraid to use every blade of green available. there are good podcasts on that offense out there. ill find them today and post it in here

Re Hooker- easy reads that let your QB make plays. Explosive play style. They max pro the deep shots. He can scramble enough.

re Nix- Dilly runs a fast moving, RPO, quick read offense that relies on the run game, and Nix being mobile.

Gattis had that 2 point play and ran it to the boundary. Garcia made a **** of a play to get in the end zone, even if he should've thrown it

Does UGA run an Air Raid O under Monken? I'd assume he runs a mix of a pro-style and Gundy's air raid.
Bama won with Steve who is from the Norm Chow tree. Lane was a spread guy in 2015. Otherwise, they were all pro-style OCs.
We then have to go back to Guz at Auburn.

There sure looks like a number of pro-style national championships over the years with a growing number of spread championships.
UGA, Bama x2, Auburn = 4 spread since 2010 and 8 more pro-style.

I'm a fan of the spread as it is pretty easy to implement with fast results AND fits the south florida kids who tend to play lots of 7v7 ball.

My bad - they were transfers but transferred in prior years
71 has been at Oregon since 2019 and playing his 6th year (4 at Oregon).
56 has been at Oregon since 2020 and playing his 5th year (3 at Oregon).
