So Todd Grantham(?) just got paid a whopping 1.3 mil salary by the overgrown lizards. Cool, dude gets paid..

Grantham also took over Manny's Diaz two years later and instantly forged one of the top defense in the SEC; not all of america, but ONLY THE SEC.

So you know Diaz sees this sh*t and can't help but get a little excited.

But my Cane lovin *** KNOWS Diaz still had implications on that defense.

*****, he leavin next year boy Scouts

Miss St's defense ranking last year was kind've deceiving.

They played 4 cupcakes in the OOC, then the SEC West was pretty bad offensively. They played 4 legit offenses:

Auburn: Put up 49
Georgia: Put up 31
Ole Miss: Put up 31
Bama: Put up 31

There's a reason Louisville didn't care if Grantham left the year before

More to the point, right? If lame *** is getting 1.3 mil/year ... Manny's market value is trending up.

No doubt Diaz will be gone within the next two years. Too much money in temptation

Diaz family is absolutely loaded. Manny could probably never work again and be fine.

If he has success here though, I agree he'll be gone as he'll probably get some HC or NFL DC offers. I think he knows too that he'll need to prove himself as a HC first if he wants to get the job after Richt retires

If I'm Manny Diaz, coaching at my hometown team with my wife and kids surrounded by family, I wouldnt leave here for anything other than a HC job, which he's not ready for IMO.

Getting a huge raise is nice, but if the trade off was having to move to Starkville or Ames or Norman...uhhhh...no thanks.

His situation is pretty unique. Can't see him leaving here for something lateral just for money.

I think we can be sure of one thing, if Manny leaves (as suggested in the next 1-2 years, by previous poster), CMR will not go cheap on the next DC. D is our signature, and he will not go cheap on this, especially since he insists on handling the OC duties.

Obviously im not saying SEC country is better living than miami but 1.3 in starkville will buy you a **** of a lot more than 1.3 in miami. 43% cost of living difference...or 559k

That 1.3 is really 1.85 adjusted.

Grantham has always amazed me with the amount of $$$$ he gets paid. his results for the most part are just OK
i cannot remember the year he was at UGA with Richt and his defense was manhandled by Bama
and that D had multiple guys who played in the NFL. UGA was not sorry to see him go and neitheir was Louisville.
big hat, no cattle

we said the same thing about Mario Cristobal. ¿dónde está Mario en este momento?

Diaz has a lot to show this year as I still have a lot of questions about how decent he actually is.

The biggest thing I felt that we lacked was size and depth at corner. That left gaping holes in our defense and if we couldn't get to the QB, mediocre QB's were able to tear us up.

Size, we've got it now, albeit young. Hopefully they can shore up the defense quickly or its going to be a long year with a lot of the same issues we had last year.

I don’t care if it’s 5.2 adjusted .... it’s still Starkville, or G-ville, or Auburn ... or where ever. Outside of Athens and maybe Nashville these SEC towns are NOT for someone who is happy in Miami AND has the money to really enjoy Miami.
It’s about more than just money.

He was so bad at UGA that the UGA fans used to refer to 3rd downs as 3rd and Grantham because of how terrible his defenses where on 3rd down. He got chased out of Georgia.

I don’t think he’s a good DC. He definitely benefited from Diaz defense. He was bad at his stops in UL and UGA. As most of you pointed out. I’m not familiar with the salaries but unless Diaz is offered a HC gig, I don’t see him leaving. If we continue to improve he should get paid.

Agreed, most def. But I think it's worth highlighting he coached some good ones while there.

He made Jarvis Jones a 1st round pick, and that dude is 1/4 of what Joe Jackson is.

But I always wondered why he left Georgia. Seems like Grantham is cashing in on job hopping while maintaining an average resume. P

Im not arguing any of those facts. Diaz is obviously a Miami guy but at heart money can NEVER be discounted. You could buy a mansion with acreage and a. ondo in miami for the price a single family home in miami in a good neighborhood.

Easy on my alma Mater. Ames is great. Go Clones (and Canes)!

Don’t disagree with that but that condo does no good if you spend 9 months out of the year in the mansion surrounded by red necks, Wal Marts, and NASCAR bumper stickers.
For the record, I think he does leave in a few years, but not for the money. I think he leaves because he wants HC experience for when Richt retires so he can come back and be HC.
