Interesting read

Vishnu is as cane as cane gets.

I was on a private board with Vish and Rok a while back when everybody jumped ship from Canesport and Canestime following the live chat with the Yahoo writer who broke the Shapiro investigation. VIsh was always brilliant. Wish he were on here, he'd give Lance a run for his money.

I left canesport at that time too

I've supported Diaz since he brought in Lashlee, got us a QB, utilized the portal, fixed our punting game and FG game BUT now it comes down to what will he do regarding the defense. The comment in the article "Invest in the right person and trust them" is the major object we need to see happen regarding our defense. I also cannot stomach how poor our return game has been, that was one of our biggest threats and we've been neutered. It won't take long to see what changes are made, hopefully smart changes.

100% with you. Every move Manny made to now was necessary and hard. But they all were easy compared to admitting your own defensive scheme, the one that put you on the map as a coach, is exploitable by good and prepared offenses. And then firing the guys you brought in to run it, that's got to be ****. Golden and Richt couldn't do it. And if Manny can't either, then he's going down with the ship. ... He will show whether he has it in him to be a great Miami head coach over the next two to three weeks.

"Butch Davis fired his Defensive Coordinator after the 9-3 season in 1998. Why? It wasn’t good enough. Beating UCLA 49-45 was magical, but it wasn’t the road to a championship."

Does Manny have it in him?

Isn’t that what most successful CFB head coaches try to do??? At every position hire the best candidate that you can so you can be free to improve and guide from above???

oh yeah, the one thing Manny was hired for is crumbling and he’s too chicken **** to actually go hire someone on Def with a lick of experience that could challenge Manny’s sacred Def philosophy????

we are screwed. It’s purely fantasy, but if given the coach today, I’d pick Lashlee over Manny to be HC, because I’d bet my house that Lashlee had more to do with Likens and Justice getting hired than Manny.
it sucks to have to point this out, but our last TWO head coaches have moonlighted as coordinators. Richt overtly on OC and manny passively as super DC (and he’s said publicly that’s where he spends his time). We can blame Mork and manolo for doing it but WTF is our AD thinking allowing this all to happen. Richt told James he wanted to be Oc again and we still hired him, which is pathetic. If UM hasn’t figured out yet that the Hc job is hard enough without trying to be your own coordinator, then the institution is run by clowns. go back further and you get the husband and wife team of gluten and dorito - better in that the Jc didn’t have to actually be his own coordinator, but not better in the sense that he wasn’t able to be impartial or move on.

Someone smart once observed that the best way to understand bureaucratic behavior is to assume that the bureaucracy is run by a cabal of its enemies. UM is great proof of this theorem.

Great article. The one thing I want to know is if Manny is feeling outside pressure to move on from Baker or if he wants to do it based on his opinion?
The key difference I believe is back in 98 Butch didnt need someone to yell to fire the DC. He saw it himself.
That is the difference btw a good coach and a pretender. Everything I have seen from Diaz is a pretender.

Guys can you all confirm if Manny reads ANYTHING?........I am waiting...

He's a politician's son. You can be pretty certain he reads his own press. But these types of articles and discussion boards are for fans not coaches or players. Hopefully Manny's smart enough to seek out unbiased expert opinions when actually making decisions.

The why doesn't matter. Just that he does it.
