INSTANT REACTION: Fall Practice #4

Love the positive observations about Browm and Barrow. Patterson and Pruitt adding legit depth to active rotation on the defense is a major development . I know we’ve been tracking them since Spring ball but nice to see they keep impressing

Chase Smith is my dark horse for having a breakout season. He’s going to surprise a lot of people. LB is loaded!!

This is what I was told last Sept. when SF played Theodore

===We played Theodore Friday night. I asked 2 of the coaches to give me their thoughts on #6 (Pruitt). Both said he was a dude and was everywhere. But once he gets that weight up, he will be unstoppable.

I watched some film this morning and he ragdolled our right tackle a few times and was super explosive. He was everywhere.

Go Canes!!

ITU basically said the same observations.

They did mention that they were impressed with the work Anthony Campbell has done and how big he is (pause). That he should be in the fight for the DT4 spot. Did you see the same?

Also they like Booker Pickett a lot. Said he has to get stronger but as of now they like him more than Lightfoot.

I’m glad you finally caved to all the times I begged you to watch the tape

That kid is ******* ruthless. HUGE pull from Alabama for sure. I think he plays a lot this year
If he adds weight slowly he’s going to be a problem. At least we have modern day looking backers now, was so tired of seeing those stocky gnomes we would trot out there.

Gone are the days when I would walk past a couple of them and think to myself “if I would have stuck through peewee ball and not switched to basketball maybe I could have played lb here”

This board is more obsessed with weight than chicks in the 90s subscribing to Cosmopolitan magazine

Dude just knows how to play the game

Hot take

Barrow will be our 2nd best DL this season. I think he is going to bully this conference and play himself into an early day 3 draft pick. He will get much better pass rushing opportunities than he has ever had this year too because of the focus on our edge guys.
i'll do you one better, hot take, campbell is the fourth DT and pushes for third in the rotation over cook

Do we still have that big kid from NCState? CJ Clark? Haven’t heard much on him. I assumed he’d play a lot, but haven’t heard his name at all.

Reminds me of an occasion where my brother and I attended UM at Temple game. This was in the early 90s and we hung outside the locker room after the game to get an up close and personal look at our players (absolutely no homeux). Anyways a couple of players came out of the locker room when my brother asked who they were. He was Dumbfounded when I told him they were two of our olmen, remarking how small they were. Granted my brother was in the 6,2/230lb range at the time and was a pretty good fb player in his day. Anyways, I had to ask him to stop saying this because one of the other players heard this and there were family members around us. He was right, regardless of what was listed on the rosters, we had smallish linemen.

lol, those had to be the Erickson recruits

When you have to compare every backer to Zach Thomas. You know you got a problem
Those linebackers worked back at that time. Not anymore it’s a different game, eras change and style of play change and positions change. Pause

To me the really major modern day hybrid was ST dude was a linebacker that moved like a DB and no one still hasn’t been like him. But now every player is pretty decent even Rutgers has players. I remember Hester punt return on Duke and Duke look like they had a bunch of construction workers chasing him. Now they have players, more parity and more talent all around cfb. We just need to find the best.
