Inner City Recruiter

Manny is FROM Miami, but can’t recruit Miami inner city kids because he don’t relate to any of them. It’s got to be the most insane thing ever.

He never spent any time in their part of town, probably never had friends from those areas, and never played sports. He’s got nothing in common with them. All he’s got in his back pocket is “my dad took me to some games in the Orange Bowl back in the day”
All speculation... Not one fact... We could have hired JJ and you would find something to complain about

That's true to an extent but there's a reason why 4 of the top 5 recruiters in 2020 are black.

Maybe, just maybe, they are good at their jobs. Excellent at presenting the vision that resonates with these young men.

Bags probably helps.

15 of the top 25 recruiters are black. There is 10× as many white coaches on staff at Bama, Clemson, UGA etc yet it's the one black guy that's their top recruiter.

Again, debate the numbers.

Yes. One recruiter (who happens to have great tan) is single-handedly keeping those programs afloat for the evil white overloads sipping on mint julips in finely pressed linen suits.

C'mon.

Celebrate these coaches recruiting prowess (and the muscle of the schools they represent) as top of their game.

Good for them, good for those schools.

By your logic, there is NOTHING stopping HBCUs from dominating D1P5 until the end of time right?

96% of all serial killers drink orange juice in the morning. 58% of serial killers are white. That must mean if you're white and drink orange juice, youre likely to be a serial killer, right?

Unless you want to argue with numbers.

I do not drink orange juice. Makes me gassy.

Theory BLOWN UP!

I remember when Randy Shannon was going to be our key to the "inner-city." Instead, he did more damage than actual recruiting.

"Inner-city" is some of your new obsession, and it's downright ignorance most of you are spewing.

These kids aren't stupid, and they aren't going to be drawn to someone they "relate to" if they're peddling a crap product.

In fact, "inner-city" kids are probably 10 times more likely to sniff out the bullshït than kids who grew up in the suburbs, because they grew up being suspicious of 90% of the people and places they encounter every day.

You want to win "inner-city" kids over? Show them that above else, you appreciate their talent and love of the game, and that you recognize what the sport means for them long-term. Prove to them that you're the guy to develop their talents and put them in a position to be successful, not that your some guy "like them" but representing a marginal ACC team that's been .500 against P5 opponents.

That's where we failed. It's not "who" we're sending, it's what we've been selling.

The fact you've said the same thing twice on the same page is telling. And do you really think kids care if you've been to their neighborhood or not? Think Saban grew up in the inner city? What about Dabo? You think those guys "connect" with teenagers because they have similar experiences or could it be something else?
