Injury thread

I think finally the coaches are realizing a few things I see scheme improvement and some change in philosophy for the better but these injuries are mounting up to the point that it really is going to be a tough go. Yet I feel better about the team given we work on the penalties and I think they will👍🙌❤️

So many years of soft practices and went the extreme opposite direction coupled with bad luck. Odds are some adjustments need to be made in the workouts & prep to focus on injury prevention but it's doubtful it can all be simply blamed on Feld.
They will acclimate. And you will see bigger stronger more physical teams in the future. This is part of Mario’s plan.

As best I can tell, this is how it went down today:

Parrish (DNP)
Chaney (DNP)
Citizen (DNP)
Restrepo (DNP)
George (DNP)
Redding (DNP)
Arroyo (DNP)
Mallory (left the game injured)
Nelson (DNP)
Clarke (DNP)
Olawuseun (DNP)
Steed (DNP)
Stevenson (DNP)

Might be missing some...
How many of these injuries occurred during practice? Most it would seem to me from memory. Certainly Chaney, Citizen, X, Arroyo, Nelson, again form memory.
I ask because we now have much more physical practices than last year. so it begs the question whether more physical practices will inevitably mean more injuries in practice. If we weren’t going full bore in practice in 2002 would Sean Taylor have met Frank Gore in the hole and tore his ACL?
I am not advocating for less physical practices but this seems like a natural outgrowth.

More collisions=more injuries.

Should they take a look at not bringing Aaron Fields back?

Idk how much blame you should put on that program.. but all I know I don’t ever remember this many injuries.
Same issues at Oregon. Many top players out with injuries last season and the previous season.

It can’t be a coincidence. Something is up with his training regimen. So many dudes going down with serious injuries is always a warning sign. You don’t see so many bad injuries to so many key players at Baga, Taint, Jawja, USC, OU, etc..

I think zion not coming back because 1. Jcamp has the lt on lock, if he was bad I think the staff would push for zion to play. Right now imo I wouldn’t make jcamp move to rt, it’ll have to be zion there and thats a risk I wouldn’t take if i were him for his draft stock. 2. Probably doesn’t want to re-injure anything and just get fully healed for the camps and combine stuff.

All in all im coo with whatever decision he makes, his development was one of the few good things that has happened the last few years, he should be an example for all the players

CIS: We have no talent. There are literally zero playmakers on this roster. How the **** can you expect Mario to have the team looking competent with this crap Manny left him?

Also CIS: We have SO much talent injured. Literally every playmaker on offense is out. How the **** can you expect Mario to have the team looking competent with all this talent on the bench?

CIS: These veterans are the same ones that lost to LA Tech, FIU, etc. It's time for them to go and get these young guys reps!

Also CIS: Pretty tough to win without your veterans. These young guys are just getting their feet wet that's why we skinned it out against the worst power 5 team I've seen all season and had 132 penalties. What can you expect with these young guys getting reps!

That’s not true. Bama was destroyed by injury the last few years.

That Lucious (i think that's his name) looked good....seemed to have much better vision than the other two. He might need to play more.

Agreed. He seemed to have something about him out there. While the line may be in the infirmary, those 3 RBs should be able to pick up a yard or two out of the back field here and there.

Hmmm interesting.. if this was common at OU, then I would say it’s fair to to point some fingers at Aaron.

1) Bad luck;
2) Players who are suceptible;
3) Poor OL play leads to taking more abuse.
