Indoor Practice Facility

I'm sure it won't be that hard. They've spent 20-30M the past 5 years...I'm sure indoor practice facility in the $3-5M range is feasible.

Back in my day, we didn't need no stinking indoor facilities. We didn't need no weight room either, we got stronger with what the good lord supplied us with. If it was good enough for Rockne and the four horsemen, it's good enough for me.

I'm slowly being sold on Herman. Too good of an offensive mind, CEO, recruiter, etc. He's learned from the best, arguably ever, in Urban Meyer. He would just do all the right things here. He is a MENSA member as well, can't be anything but a positive.

He would get the job done no questions asked. But Butch Davis is just too hard to turn down. 1a, 1b.

Forget about it. The City of Coral Gables will never allow an on-campus indoor practice facility.

Why not? They allowed the school to remodel the Rat, and they are remodeling that area by the Ponce garage. Couldn't an indoor practice facility fit on the two old greentree practice fields? I do believe having a IPF is a necessity especially in the rain and lightning capital of the world.

I'm warming up to Herman, but I like Fuente also. At least he's ushered a team to double digit wins, something Golden and Cristobal have never done. Problem with Herman is that he's not tested. People would be drooling at the idea of Larry Coker being their head coach after he went 12-0 and won a national championship, but how did he stand the test of time?

So if Herman beats Fuente will that help? They play later this season.

It's impressive for a guy in his first year at a new program. None of the guys are his guys and he is basically leading them on coaching alone.

I think you are missing the point. Coker did the same thing with Butch's players. Herman needs at least 3 years as a head coach to be judged by a body of work.

You would think that the school would have the common sense to do this no matter what an outsider says. In South Florida where there are constant thunder storms it should be a no brainer but it doesn't seem to be anyone with brain working at The U these days.

Not an apples to apples comparison when considering Coker inherited a team that should have played for a NC the year before vs. Houston being a middle of the pack team in a low level conference.

So, you think Houston is loaded with talent after 3 years under Tony Levine?

We've made significant upgrades to our facilities over the past few years, but lacking an indoor practice facility, in stormy Miami of all places, is our biggest facilities weakness right now.

Sure, SunLife sucks, but you can spin that with the whole $400+M in renovations, pro stadium, shady seats coming soon, etc. But ain't no way to justify practicing on the hardwood when it rains outside.

the fins have been terrible at home since saban built the indoor bubble. :peaceful:

No, I just don't want to see another Golden. He was the guy that turned Temple around and where did that get us? Fuente seems a little more proven than Herman. I'm not against him, just concerned.

Sorry about that. I meant to respond to JavyJr.
