Indiana secret?

Bauman was always there from the first game...So do you blame the player or the special teams coach for allowing his bad habits?
They were in punt safe. You know you have an Aussie-style punter. That was an ole effort. Dylan all but ran into him.

Lmao. Not going to go back n forth so ill just respond once my writing out what I’d have to ignore in order to believe…..

Did he just get AI / his cheating scheme at IU? if not, i guess Mario hired the wrong cheater in Corey Hetherman, who just brought along his cheating co-conspirator in Matt Birkett as nickels coach, because they decided not to tell anybody about how to handle and utilize all this secret information from their three years with Cignetti at JMU.

If he did just learn how to cheat at IU, it’s odd that his record falls a pattern (virtually all close games or losses have been away from home: Iowa, Notre Dame, Miami, both OSU games although the 2nd one was virtually a home game, 1st Oregon matchup, and Penn State). . . & if he can’t cheat as well away from home, it’s odd how little that helped him avoid looking like an assclown against Notre Dame by proclaiming they were going to kick their *** before getting their *** kicked.

So i guess I’ll just have to ignore IU’s co-OC and QB coach, in ‘24 and ‘26, getting DISMISSED from UCLA last season after going 0-4 there; immediately afterwards the team starts scoring more points and wins 3 in a row. He must’ve decided to not take these tactics to UCLA because it’d look too fishy for him to succeed elsewhere.

And I guess I’ll have to presume that Cignetti only got this started when he got to IU, and whatever help he had was specific to IU who for some reason had a breakthrough in 2024 and never decided to help out their football program beforehand.

Or…..maybe Tom Allen went 14-7 in ‘19 & ‘20 because he had the support of Alabama’s current staff who would go on to win/compete at ‘Bama in the same manner as IU did then, and with the same **** quarterback — Michael Penix Jr — who went 10-2 at IU when the DeBoer brass was still there — at Washington. And Tom Allen noticeably was a lot worse without DeBoer, Pennix, and Womack.

Not like there’s evidence of CC & his staff @ JMU moving from FCS (33-5) to FBS (19-4) and still winning a lot of games. Or of Cignetti never having a losing record as a HC. Or how he can elevate NFL talent at QB (Phillip Rivers) or evaluate it (Russell Wilson).

Elon had no winning seasons for 7 years before he got there. IUP, less trash, yet still mediocre for a couple of years beforehand. JMU won before him, with him, and after him.

The cheating advantage Cignetti had was boring and simple: he played QB at the college level, his dad was a coach so he grew up with a stronger eye, he has spent the past few decades talking to his brother, who coached Aaron rodgers & Eli Manning, as well as was OC for college teams, all the time about football along with other coaches like Nick Saban who decided to hire him when he returned from the NFL. Experience accumulated.

TLDR

There's not going to be a back and forth because you want to believe horseschidt. You want to pick apart history. I want to use common sense.

He works WAY less, practices WAY less, yet wins WAY more right away at a school known for basketball and corn. This is unprecedented. Even St. Nick Saban was mediocre his first year at Alabama (and was cheating) before going on to owning CFB for the better part of 15 years.

Hes a good coach and clearly prioritizes high IQ, seasoned players.

But make no mistake; he still relied on **** near biblical level miracles to win a few games last year.

If our coaches didn't have an addiction to forcing things up the middle and blocked on a punt, we would have won by 2+ scores.

Its not AI, or special practice configurations. Hes a good coach. Good coaches win quickly. I think our fan base has a hard time realizing what truly good coaches can do, and how quickly they can get results.

Its something we've had since the 80s/90s.

Could he be cheating. I wouldn't be shocked to find out, but as of now, i doubt it.

What do you call coaches who go 27-2 in their first two years at a program that was a literal doormat for 80+ years? That's not good, that's "biblical" to borrow a term. To keep it along those lines, I look at Moses' parting of the Red Sea as an easier task than what Cignetti has done the last two seasons.

That's my entire point.

Cignetti is from the Saban coaching tree. Who is from the Bill Bellicheat tree.

Take from that what you will.
Yet we still win if Bauman learns how to Block and xavier Lucas doesn’t get a targeting penalty that keeps An out for the first half which would never happen again with the rule change

Yes, but coincided with a massive change and everything in the sport, from the transfer portal to name, image, likeness, and as much as everyone wants to do this conspiracy about cheating, he still identified talent that was overlooked, came to him, and wound up in the league, so I think some of you are going a little too far

And he did it while working less than half the time the rest of college football works. But let's be sure to omit that part cuz....conspiracy theory.

Just to keep it 100, your first point about the massive wave of change (NIL and portal) is not lost on me.

I think that they have access to opposing playbooks. They also study and gameplan extremely well to the weakness of their opponent. Not a single team went into a punt rush that wide all season. They called their most important play and it was something we didn't defend all season, which was the QB draw. So their research staff must be pretty large, similar to what we had with Clemson not too long ago.

That being said, we all saw what happened once the huddle disappeared, once Beck called his own shots, once we went into spread mode and did stuff that we didn't do in months. They started chasing, tackling poorly and basically busted coverages.

Ultimately, I do buy what Cignetti is saying with practices. The downside of that is that you run out of gas at the end of games if another team attacks them all game, which is what happened against us. Training periodization is not something unusual - it's well established in other sports.

To me, it's both. Having opposite playbooks doesn't make them tackle and break tackles as well as they did, which is purely a physical trait. Cignetti has seen enough physical profiles and has a clear understanding of what benchmarks matter in football and which doesn't. He knows what drills make sense and what drills don't make sense. It's a data-driven sport in any aspect and having better data over the opposition nets you wins.

Yeah the conspiracy theory that IU has found a way to cheat, either with AI or with hacking into all of their opponents’ private data who seemingly willingly uploaded their game-specific scripts and points of emphasis into the same space, for the past two years doesn’t make much sense to me on any level

To each their own
Idk man. They had something like 6 first drive INT's last season. When you put that in probability terms, it was about 3 standard deviations higher than what you would normally see. Them more you look at what they did, the more it makes you say, "huh."
