Indiana secret?

Didn't read the article, I can only assume that this "secret" they are referencing is knowing the oppositions playbook. Otherwise it's just a bunch of fluff, half truth's and lies. (why yes, I am still bitter!)
I change the station whenever John Mellencamp comes on and will never watch Shark Tank again.

Do we win, even without Lucas for a half, if Brock Schott isn't providing our secrets to Cignetti and staff leading up to the game?
they made less mistakes. I know someone who played for him at IUP and he said he was a great coach.

also, I wouldn't believe anything he says about how he runs his practices. he doesnt come off as the kind of guy to share his secrets

After 2026 Everyone will be wondering what Miami is doing; we must be cheating
NFL Scouts know. They've been to our practices. Look at what Rueben, Mes, CiCi, Coop, and Keonte are doing in camp. My guess we are going at it even harder than Saban did at Alabama. It is just who Mario is a former starting left tackle on great Miami teams.

And bad clock management by Cignetti almost costed them the game. Beck made a pass he had no business making with plenty of time on the clock.

The REAL tell if this Cignetti guy is legit is how IU's draft picks do in the league. If they fizzle out in a couple years and make zero impact, then he's a fraud. That whole Brock Schott bull**** transfer right before the Natty rubbed me the wrong way. I'm not a conspiracy theory guy at all, but I played D1 - Power 5 (now 4) baseball and know enough about high-level competitive sports that there is a chance this **** was done to gain an advantage, especially in today's pay for play (NIL) era. Cignetti ain't a messiah, I think he's a cheating ******* that got lucky last couple years. The secret is out now, he's no longer a flash in the pan.

1.5 days people! Lock in!!! GO CANES!!!!!

Fully disagree. They'll be saying "how tf can anyone compete with that roster" not "they must be cheating". Cignettis team is not the most talented, but they play absolutely perfect. They make no mistakes. It's almost like they know what is going to happen before it happens....

Yeah repeating and recycling horseschidt stories about efficient practices at a traditional ****-poor doormat school from a sub-division coach with when there's never been anyone ever accomplish anything remotely close makes more sense. Let's not forget about the coaches all being so happy that they have 40 hour work weeks too. **** correcting players' mistakes, it's all about efficiency and efficiency is king..

Cignetti won 27 games in two seasons at Indiana. It took that same school six years to win 28 games in the six seasons prior to Cignetti arriving and that includes an 8 win season in 2019 which was an anomaly for them.

I'm not a wanna be media person so I don't give a F about calling this cheater out.

Yes, to each their own.
Lmao. Not going to go back n forth so ill just respond once my writing out what I’d have to ignore in order to believe…..

Did he just get AI / his cheating scheme at IU? if not, i guess Mario hired the wrong cheater in Corey Hetherman, who just brought along his cheating co-conspirator in Matt Birkett as nickels coach, because they decided not to tell anybody about how to handle and utilize all this secret information from their three years with Cignetti at JMU.

If he did just learn how to cheat at IU, it’s odd that his record follows a pattern (virtually all close games or losses have been away from home: Iowa, Notre Dame, Miami, both OSU games although the 2nd one was virtually a home game, 1st Oregon matchup, and Penn State). . . & if he can’t cheat as well away from home, it’s odd how little that helped him avoid looking like an assclown against Notre Dame by proclaiming they were going to kick their *** before getting their *** kicked.

So i guess I’ll just have to ignore IU’s co-OC and QB coach, in ‘24 and ‘26, getting DISMISSED from UCLA last season after going 0-4 there; immediately afterwards the team starts scoring more points and wins 3 in a row. He must’ve decided to not take these tactics to UCLA because it’d look too fishy for him to succeed elsewhere.

And I guess I’ll have to presume that Cignetti only got this started when he got to IU, and whatever help he had was specific to IU who for some reason had a breakthrough in 2024 and never decided to help out their football program beforehand.

Or…..maybe Tom Allen went 14-7 in ‘19 & ‘20 because he had the support of Alabama’s current staff who would go on to win/compete at ‘Bama in the same manner as IU did then, and with the same **** quarterback — Michael Penix Jr — who went 10-2 at IU when the DeBoer brass was still there — at Washington. And Tom Allen noticeably was a lot worse without DeBoer, Pennix, and Womack.

Not like there’s evidence of CC & his staff @ JMU moving from FCS (33-5) to FBS (19-4) and still winning a lot of games. Or of Cignetti never having a losing record as a HC. Or how he can elevate NFL talent at QB (Phillip Rivers) or evaluate it (Russell Wilson).

Elon had no winning seasons for 7 years before he got there. IUP, less trash, yet still mediocre for a couple of years beforehand. JMU won before him, with him, and after him.

The cheating advantage Cignetti had was boring and simple: he played QB at the college level, his dad was a coach so he grew up with a stronger eye, he has spent the past few decades talking to his brother, who coached Aaron rodgers & Eli Manning, as well as was OC for college teams, all the time about football along with other coaches like Nick Saban who decided to hire him when he returned from the NFL. Experience accumulated.

I won’t simply dismiss the possibility of “cheating” given what happened with Michigan. But overall, they did have 8 players drafted including #1 overall pick, only one less than we had. They have a decent number projected for 2027 too, and the NFL doesn’t really care where you went to school. So there’s at least pretty good talent they were working with (Clemson, for perspective, had 6 players drafted after both of their championship seasons)

Things like not fumbling and not committing penalties go beyond any potential algorithmic or opponent scout cheating and point to a team that is very fundamentally sound, extremely experienced, well-coached and also lucky. I think they have two outstanding coordinators in particular (even though the DC is an insecure *****).

They had a lot of close-game luck. Penn State, Iowa, OSU in the Big CG….and obviously the NC game against us. Their postgame win expectancy was something like 20% from what I recall. Even the first matchup with Oregon was reasonably close most of the game. And of course, as part of the formula, they play *nobody* out of conference. They were never the juggernaut they were portrayed to be , but they were a genuinely excellent team.

Usually there’s some regression-to-the -mean with respect to close wins/close losses. I would expect that to occur this year, even though they’ll still be very good.
