What, why would they do such a thing? According to some posters here, a share of the regular season title is meaningless. It's below winning a holiday tournament in Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

I think you're missing the ridiculousness of what they did. They did this after a LOSS. After all the fans had left. You can acknowledge the title, but cutting down the nets after a loss is the most pathetic thing I've ever heard of.

That's absurd. And lol that they waited for everyone to leave first.

No, no. I see the two different points. First, I agree with you that it is bizarre to cut down the nets after a loss after everybody had left. But I wonder why they did it then and not later? It was their senior night, so I'm assuming they will place the cut down net in their hall of fame. I was more under the impression that for a school with the tradition of Indiana to cut down the nets after a regular season conference championship, that the regular season championship means something.

Wow. Who said that? While there is no such title, I would be proud to hang a banner. I think people are missing the REAL POINT and standing on their soapbox (like yourself) to continue a tirade.

For a program as rich in tradition as IU is, that is shameful.

They haven't won a share of a Big Ten regular season title in over a decade, and they haven't won one outright since 1993, so this is meaningful to them. That they did it after a loss that kept them as "co-champs" in front of an empty gym... well, that's just weird. I have a feeling that they planned this as a big celebration to take place after beating Ohio State, but they forgot to include a backup plan in case they lost.
