Indiana cheating ?

Actually, Cuban isn't really a tech guy at all. He got rich off someone else's idea for internet radio. They sold it to Yahoo for a bazillion dollars decades ago and Cuban has been basically patting himself on the back ever since. The guy ain't that bright.

So he really is a thief, huh? Lol

If we had a dollar for every “self-made” billionaire story like this, we would all be billionaires. A lot of these dudes made guac stealing other’s ideas & marketing it them as their own.

Stop with this cheating nonsense. I thought his "Google me" schtick was corny but I actually did that. Dude has a primo coaching pedigree. He was groomed as a kid to be a football coach. His dad is in the College Football Hall of Fame. He was a college quarterback. Coached under Saban when he first turned Bama around. Since then he's had unreal success turning around every single low-profile team he's ever coached. He's a strange cat and comes across as an autistic savant. People are looking for excuses -- with zero evidence by the way -- to account for an unlikely situation. It's probably best explained by an actual coaching genius plus the NIL that has rapidly and drastically transformed the college football landscape.

Mario needs to go old school Mario, all analog this week, no crumbs on the interwebs. You guys call him a caveman, maybe it pays off for us this time!

He’s not dumb. He’s a smart businessman and is good at figuring out how to get himself ahead and get what he wants. He’s a strategy guy. Tech is just the industry he ended up in when he started in sales. When he was in undergrad at IU’s business school he manipulated the system to start taking MBA classes instead.

There is something to be said for the people who are smart enough to know what they don’t know and figure out how to acquire that knowledge or surround themselves with it. But no, he’s not an engineer and he never built any technology himself.

Good point. So youre telling me their top booster owns the company that attaches sensors and doodads all over the field and on players? jfc

if they're cheating our elite ternch play the perfect foil to it. We're gonna hit them with a rock over and over again on both sides of the ball. Best of luck ********
Thats exactly it.

I've been thinking that Indiana was pulling some Moneyball **** and figure out a novel way to cheat the system. If you had access to the data, this is exactly how I would do it.

IIRC Cuban didn't "steal" the idea. He just teamed up with the guy who more or less devised the idea and somehow got Yahoo to bankrupt itself buying a product (broadcast.com) they abandoned only a few years after buying it. https://press.farm/how-did-mark-cuban-sell-broadcast-com/

Haha and some of your foolish people thought it was a bad thing Coach is a caveman. Mario Cristobal not gonna upload gameplan to information superhighway. He just gonna hit you with a rock
Mike Leach told a story once about how when he played (his good friend) Bob Stoops' teams in the aughts that he offered to tell him what plays they were running if they wanted.

The new caveman should know to use all the tools at their disposal and not to underestimate their enemy.

Since the Patriots, Michigan & Astros scandal almost escalating the tactic over time, any team high level team not aggressively countering this is making a mistake.

I never called him dumb. He's a shrewd investor who knows how to bully those he's negotiating with. He's just not a tech wiz is all I'm saying.

We should discuss it, but should do so without caring about whether its "cheating".

How do we counter it, that's the question we should be discussing.

If the cost therein is too high we can worry about being more pragmatic.

Additionally, to what extent should we be doing the exact same to them?

They got really good, really fast. Makes a person wonder. Their DB knew the first play of the game last night. They don't have a ton of talent. Idk, i been wondering for 2 years now how they got so good
The DB had his eyes on the QB who was staring that side before the snap, after the snap and before throwing. If he would have just looked at the other side it was a TD. It was a horrible play by Moore.

Not saying he’s cheating but the NIL point doesn’t really apply to them for the most part. I’m sure Mendoza got QB money but a lot of their transfers are from JMU and lesser schools. I’m sure they didn’t break the bank.
