What was yours? What linked you to Canedom?
The 1986 team had a devastating loss to PSU and our first game of 1987 was the gator.in the OB. All my associates were gators and I bet all of them Miami would beat the chicken gator who was dropping Miami from their schedule. I bought a hawked ticket and lo and behold was in the middle of the gator section. Game started rather slow, one of the gator CB's got hurt and a boy named Glover took his place. Glover made a nice play and this huge man stood and said "That's my boy Glover". That repeated several times until, Michael put a move on Glover and went 70 plus yards for a TD. Mr. Big Man Glover did not get up so I did, "Hey Glover wasn't that your boyy?" My friends were shocked and a little concerned since I am typically reserved but the rout was on and the final was Miami 31 and Miami 4 since we scored two safeties for them. I felt so good after the game I did not want to leave, it was like when my children were born just an unbelievable satisfaction that I never wanted to end, it was better than ***, well almost!

No one had a special moment with the U???? How about the 3rd and forever conversion against ND? The Thursday night game against Houston? The 31-4 whipping put on the gator when they dropped us from their yearly schedule? Need I go on...

Ill tell you mine. I’m from NY fyi

I was born in ‘84 and was a canes “fan” as a young guy...I really liked the colors and would always get shirts/sweats/hats of UM for Christmas. The first game I ever sat down to watch (even though I started following them more closely in terms of knowing the names of players a couple years prior) was the‘94 Orange Bowl vs Nebraska. You have to remember back then you didn’t have 150+ games on TV every week Thurs-Sat, and as a kid back then on the weekends I was outside playing with friends.

So I remember sitting down alone as a 10 year old to watch that game and getting so mad. I mean livid. To that point a sport had never made me that upset, watching OR playing. Little did I know it would be even worse as a Dolphins fan not too long after that game when Miami got screwed vs the Chargers...

Anyways, we all know how the next few years played out. I stayed riding with the Canes while everyone around me was either an ND or F$U fan...or Michigan.

My “moment” came the day UM played the the make up game vs UCLA. I had just finished helping my dad out with some yard work and turned the tv on to see what games were on. Now it’s ‘98 so we might have a few different choices lol. But still, in those days we were mainly going to get ND, Michigan, Syracuse, or top 25 games on tv where I lived. So when I saw UM was on I canceled my plans with a friend, poured a big glass of soda, opened a bag of chips and sat down to watch one of the most enjoyable sporting events I have ever seen. What a game. I still get goosebumps watching the highlights. Hearing how loud the OB was made me say “**** THAT’s how it’s supposed to be”.

Well the rest is history and we know that game now as kind of a major turning point in that era of UM football. My moment #2 was when UM curb stomped Nebraska in the Rose Bowl and during the game I just kept thinking back to how mad I was in ‘94. Then in that moment being more satisfied than I had ever been for a sporting event (again, watching OR playing lol). And that’s why I’m still here. Because all that misery still isn’t as bad as how good it feels when the Canes are on top and everyone hates us.
