with every offseason serving as unrestricted free agency - these kids have plenty to play for every week. Whether they have designs to stay or
go, money is on the line every week. These kids are now sales professionals week-in and week-out, with potential commission on the line for seasons end. I hope these coaches and players all realize this. Stop the crying and blow 4 teams out, put it all on the table, and see what happens. If you go out and beat these next 4 teams mercilessly, you’ll be in the mix come end of season.

All the more reason. Kids are already paid and likely overpaid. It can breed complacency
I hope not. I was a greedy young man. once i tasted money, i became addicted to more. And more…and it propelled me through my sales career. In the words of Gordon Gekko- Greed is good. These kids can create leverage for themselves every saturday.

motivation isn’t the problem. it’s coaching.

talent is more equal than ever in college football. quality of head coaching is the real differentiator now, and why we go into a tail spin half way through every season.

So the real overpaid and complacent ones are the head coaches who got the job because of…. fit. (Same as the pros where bums get jobs over and over because of who their dad was)
 
Money only becomes a motivation when it's incentivized. You'd be surprised how many people started moving rocks and actually do **** if their work was rewarded through an incentive that makes their work valued. This is why people only do the bare minimum at their jobs nowadays.

Extrinsic motivation is a thing, but it arises because there's a reward at the end of your work. Receiving millions or six figures purely for committing somewhere is not an incentive to do something. If they receive it at the end, different story.

People don't see the money at the end of it because they only see the work ahead of them. People see the money they receive without doing anything of value and focus just on that
