In Fairness to Al Golden, Some Perspective....

Didn't even read it, but I know it's retarded based on the title alone. Just give up, Baghdad Bob. You sound like Larry C0cker when he uttered the infamous "the fans' expectations are out of kilter" line.

Ah, of course it wouldnt take long for the Crown Prince of Mopery to chime in. Baghdad Bob? All I said was, maybe its time we faced reality, and just let this guy do his thing and see how it turns out. He's had a lot of sh8tty deals handed to him the last few years, which have made what was already a dumpsterfire, and even bigger sh*t show. And yeah he's made mistakes, but his record has also slowly but surely gotten better, and so has his recruiting. Kind of like how Bobby Bowden, Joe Paterno, Frank Beamer all started. And maybe he wont amount to sh*t, but at this point, burning through another coach really doesnt seem like a realistic option, not for a year or two.

But seriously, carry on, Im sure Nick Saban or Bobby Petrino will save us. Soon as you cats stop posting so much and start ponying up a few million a year to the AD. LOL. `

Didn't read again. You're too verbose. You come off like a crazy chick who just had a grande latte with 8 extra shots of espresso.

I'm not going to read all that, but point blank is we should have been 11-1 this year. We were good enough to beat everyone on our schedule save FSU. Instead, we drop 4 out of our last 6 games and give up nearly 500 yards of offense in each of the last 9 games of the season. Al Golden hasn't improved anything outside of recruiting.

What sort of bull**** is this? 11-1 with Duke injured? lmfao. One qualification, almost universally stated when this season began, was that if Duke or Morris were injured - all bets were off.

No excuses for Donofrios performance, but to suggest this team was capable of 11-1 without Duke Johnson is the height of delusion.

Only a functional ****** thinks we improved this year. We were no better, we just happened to have an aids schedule. Once we played decent teams, our defense looked high school level and the wheels came off the team. People looking at the fact we won 9 games are the same morans who cited Coker's record.

This. You are lying to yourself if you think you saw improvement. Golden is who he is. An average HC and a very below average innovative football mind. We have been playing checkers against any team with a pulse and they have a Russian master kicking our ***.

If Louisville was ranked #4 in the country, would you be this mad? If the 40th ranked team played the 4th best team, would you be shocked with what you saw?

What the Mope brigade here cant seem to fathom is that NO ONE here is cheering the current product. NO ONE is happy with things as they are right NOW. NO WHERE in my post was I sucking off Golden as some great coach for football genius, and I have readily admitted that the guy could be a total bust and go down in flames.

BUT. We need to live in the real world for a minute. And the entire point of my post, is that we need to have some perspective and fairness on the guy and his tenure here so far. He HAS been dealt a load of sh*t since he got here. This program was in SHAMBLES when he arrived. This is NOT a program with the resources to go out and buy top notch assistants and throw around money to bring in a bunch of 5 star blue chippers and turn the program around over night.

All the same sh*t people are saying here about Golden, was all the same cr#p that was said about Butch around 98 and 99.

There is absolutely NO guarantee that Golden is going to succeed here. But we need to have some perspective. The guy has had a pretty sh*tty situation to sort through. I ABSOLUTELY agree that the issues on defense need to get fixed, and we need major changes on defense... BUT.... we have very slowly been getting better, and recruiting is FINALLY starting to REALLY improve for us. IF we are patient, we MAY find that this program might just find its legs, and start to build itself into a powerhouse again. But at UM it will take TIME. Because this school does NOT have the money to just buy success like the massive football factories do.

Golden took the worst team in Division 1 football from the absolute bottom of the barrel, and made them a winning program that actually went to the bowls. The guy HAS shown that given time to get his plan in place and execute it, he can succeed.

Frankly, I dont see that we have much of a choice right now, but to hope he can get the defense issue fixed, and be patient and hope for the best. He's going to be here next year. And barring a catastrophe next year he's going to be here the following year too. He's got a great recruiting class coming in, and with that kind of talent, and hopefully learning from his mistakes, I still have hope that this guy can succeed here.

Im terribly sorry that I happen to type fast and can crank out a lot of words to express a thought. That was like 6 and a half lines thought dude, if you cant read that, you need to invest in a expresso machine.

If AG had a history of winning, there would be reason for patience, but he never even won the conference when he was at Temple.

The schedule is much tougher next season, hard to see any way that this team wins 9 games again, especially with this horrible coaching staff.

We don't have much choice at all. It's Al or bust right now. We need to let him recruit and recruit. Recruiting is the number 1 priority for this team to be relevant within the near term. Run Golden off, lose his recruiting classes and you won't hope to see a reasonable product on the field for another decade or more.

Exactly. LOL. Our BEST, and one of the ONLY weapons we had on offense, was lost for the year. Our QB has been hobbled all year with a bad ankle, and the kid is a dud to begin with. The defense has almost no leadership or talent among the upperclassmen. DP, is an above average LB, and the rest are young guys who while talented, make as many mistakes as they do plays, all mixed in with a bunch of 3rd string type guys who would NEVER see the field here, or at any top 25 program, but we are forced to play because of the disaster the roster has been, and you get what we have. Couple that with a scheme that they dont grasp, and poor adjustments and play calling, and you have a sh*tshow.

This team, with no Duke Johnson, Morris playing poorly, and a defense full of JAGS, against a seasoned, deep, fast, and talented UL team, with a great defensive mind as an HC, an experienced top level QB, one of the best defenses in the country. That team spanked a pretty good UF team in a BCS bowl last year, and would have been in a BCS bowl again THIS year but for one bad quarter of football they played. We didnt just lose to some Mid major scrub squad. Fact is, UL is a more talented team than we are right now, WITHOUT QUESTION. But that is going to change soon.

Say WHAT? Dude the guy took the absolute WORST team in Division 1 football and made them competitive. The fact that Temple was going to bowl games, was akin to Lazarus rising from the Dead.

No one is suggesting Golden is the next Bear Bryant here. But he's a hard working young coach that DOES have a track record of having improved things everywhere he has been. He's a tireless worker and recruiter, and his work on the recruiting trail looks to FINALLY be paying off big for us. As I said in my OP, the guy has been dealt some real sh*t since he's been here and had to deal with, finally he's got some breathing room to do his thing, and at least on the recruiting front, it looks like its really starting to happen. We have to hope that with the MAJOR upgrade in talent, the product on the field, will be significantly better too.

I mean go through our roster, you take away a handful of guys, and our upperclassmen look like the roster of a mid major program. There really isnt much talent there to work with on this team. We still won 9 games with what is essentially our 3rd string LB corps save for DP, a dud of a QB, Duke, before he got hurt, and a bunch of young kids like Tracy Howard.

We could afford Bobby Petrino, a "superstar" coach. Capitalize more words next time.

University will not hear of it, they are looking to become pristine and stay that way, I think puts further restrictions on the football program and Golden. Golden or any other coach will never be playing with a full deck, no stadium and a non football priority university.

People love to perpetuate that UM athletics has no money, but that's simply not true. Revenues are up 69% from 2004 ($39,755,862) to the year that ended May 31, 2013 ($67,253,273). The average head coach (among all men's sports (6)) made $104,733 in 2003. That average is up to $761,608 for the latest year - FSU's is $812,977 btw.

One qualification according to who? Expectations change throughout the season. VT was terrible this year, and we should never, ever lose to Duke no matter what. Our guys weren't ready to play for either of those games. Additionally, there was no improvement from last year to this year. We actually regressed on offense IMO.

Sorry, but Henderson was a freshman All American before Kehoe got a hold of him, and Golden hired Kehoe. Chick and Luther were 4 star recruits and Jethro did nothing with them. Good coaching makes average talent look good, see V Tech or Duke. Also, AG ran off two of his best linebackers in G Paul and E Johnson.

All of this does not matter as he is back next year and we have to hope for the best, but be interesting to see what you have to say if they do not win 9 games next year.

The donkeys were fed that line of **** by a shill looking to make excuses for UM's bad hires. The dumb dupes bought it hook, line and sinker and continue to perpetuate the myth. It's become internet fact thanks to blowhards like cane4life.
