In case you needed another reminder that stars don't mean anything

We have planes satellites and telescopes in orbit. And yet there is an active population of morons scattered all over the world that believe that the earth is flat. And some are viewed as heroes for letting the world know that they’ve been duped into believing it’s round. But yet mfers still out here saying stars don’t matter

For every **** Antonio brown there are like 5 Elite receivers in the league that were high 4 stars and 5 stars.

It’s a crap shoot. It always has and always will be. But it’s less of a crap shoot if you recruit a bunch of elite kids than trying to get lucky with a bunch of 3 stars that look like they have some potential.

The cat is out of the bag and even the nfl has noticed. Get the fastest the biggest and strongest and let’s see what happens. Nfl just got a bunch of receivers in the first round and it wasn’t all because of production. It was cause they all ran a sub 4.4. Rambo had more production than some of those dudes that got drafted.

So if there is a kid out there that runs a 4.4 and a sub 10.8 hundred and is anywhere above 5’11 he’s ain’t gonna be unknown and isn’t gonna be a 3 star. Cj Henderson barely played corner at all in high school. But he was a borderline 5 star corner based on being above 6” tall and running a 4.37 in high school as a junior.

Some 0star receiver or db decides to go to a **** track meet and runs a 10.7 and he gets like 10 p5 offers in less than 48hrs.
The days of Butch are over guys. This “unknown” sht is hard to find. Some of y’all must think that the movie Blue Chips is real. No one is finding shaq in some rural town. There is a reason it’s called the Information Age.

The playoffs literally say stars absolutely matter. And just cause some dudes didn’t pan out doesn’t mean that they don't. And just because some 2 star ends up being a pro bowler who got drafted in the 5th round from some g5 school doesn’t mean that they don’t either.

CIS when some posters express tape- or highlight-based concern about a low or unranked recruit we've offered:

- Stars don't matter this time!
- Ed Reed was a 2* recruit 25 years ago
- In [insert coach's name here] we trust, so go f*** yourself
- We only want kids that want to be Canes
- This kid is >>> than the 4* or 5* NIL-seeking future locker room cancer everyone else loves
- We're set at that position for years anyway
- Next year's class is loaded!

Mario is a beast on the trail and we're going to load up on premier, high-ranked talent. There's no need to rehash this ridiculous "stars don't matter" nonsense again, presumably as a result of the apparent recent developments with 2023 QB recruiting and the discussions surrounding Emory Williams.
** Forgot Miami 3 star is really a 5 star **

Emory making you ****** go nuts bruh lmao. I'm sure the last 10 national championship teams were littered with 3* propsects. I'll wait on the data.

Stars aren’t everything, but they are far and away the most important thing.

From there environmental factors come into play, and you can see that as evidence of OP’s tweet.

The FSU commits on that list alone create the perception that class is trash because except Derwin, no one was helped by FSU’s environment by then.

OP was tryna say every 5 star isn't a first rounder. What OP didn't realize is "no shít". But the teams with the most normally win the most games.

Much more accurate in basketball for whatever reason. It all matters. It matters that you evaluate good, pick the right kids, and can get in there and win some dogfights for kids that matter. I don’t worry about the national rankings too much. We know the kids down here that are studs. The Surtains, Cooks, Sammy Watkins, Jerry Jeudys. We can get them all but we have to get more.

I’m very aware of what he was saying. I’m trying to provide context because as usual, context has escaped a debate on CIS.

It’s irresponsible to say stars don’t matter, and in that same vein you can’t ignore that there are variables that make some 5-stars more/less likely to bust than others.

Nuance is needed, because I know people are going to argue that either 1) amount of stars directly correlates to team performance or 2) it’s all about development, not the stars.

NFL- OP is Correct

College Football= OP is incorrect by large part, tho there are exceptions as with everything.!

Exactly. There's a team in the CFP every year that isn't as talented as the others and they get waxed. Cincy is just another example of that because there's really on 2-3 elite teams every year and those teams are mostly composed of 4 and 5 stars.

The numbers don't lie
The gap between Georgia and Alabama and the next best team in college football was miles last year. Michigan had their best season in decades, won the Big10, (not a joke conference) and still got absolutely crushed in the playoffs by Georgia. The best team absolutely have the most star players. It's not even a discussion anymore.

Oh, Gawd...
Star Trek GIF

Look.... stars don't matter much for the individual player (There are some 1 star kids that end up being better than some 5 star kids), but having a team full of 5 and High 4 star kids, correlates into playing for NCAA Championships on the regular. It is what it is.
