IMO, Hard Rock has become the modern-day Orange Bowl

I've had the displeasure of never going to the old OB being here in La but seeing those old games from the mid 80's to early '00's and watching last night's game felt like I was going back in time seeing how nuts the crowd was. Unreal atmosphere and my hats off to those of you who attended.

I think being good again with marquee matchups will help sell out games (or **** near sell outs). I’m 34 and didn’t have the disposable income before she was torn down to see the old girl but I’ve been to a crappy game and a some big games at the rock like the FSU game and it can be electric

Old heads always talk about how not even during that amazing 2001 season was the OB sold out every game.

Nothing on earth can ever compare to the OB. It was built in like 1926 so you are on TOP of the field (especially in the WEZ). It was as loud as any stadium in America. ZERO amenities. No jumbo-tron. Just you and the game. Impossible to duplicate that atmosphere or mystique.

As a side note - it was also far (not as far) from campus so its always funny to me to see people complain about our off-campus stadium when its literally always been that way. Also there was no parking lol. As in - you parked wherever you could (mainly random lawns in Little Havana). Visiting fans were shook before they even got inside the stadium. It *encouraged* rowdiness and a no-nonsense approach because it was so bare bones as a stadium.

Final side note - the 72 Dolphins in interviews credit how loud that place got for going undefeated.

the spirit of the football program died when the orange bowl was torn down. what it represented to the program and to the city cannot be explained unless it was experienced. it was a spirit, a myth that was tangible beyond the steel, the concrete and the plastic. it was not just a stadium.

hard rock is aseptic and institutional and will never match what the orange bowl "had". NEVER. it might be loud but . . .

You forgot rust…rust and urine.

It’s an elite stadium when it’s full. Has everything you want for an amazing experience. Issue is how many now show up for Bethune? 20,000 less?

I miss the views, I miss the tailgating, I miss the nostalgia.. but I don’t miss the OB. Keep your cat **** smelling rust bucket cattle trough ****ing cess pool AIDS infested HEP-C giving beautiful historic dump.

Those same players ain’t coming through hard rock so I’ll keep the upgrades , easy parking & great traffic.

Thanks

Meh. Minus the DJ, 2017 ND game was much louder than 2025 ND game.
Seemed that way. Too many people who aren't actually interested in the games, go to those games. It is what it is. At the OB, there were no smartphones, no air conditioned concourses, no drinks and craft beer bars, and no food except for crappy stadium hot dogs. There was absolutely nothing to do at the OB other than truly watch the game and get involved with it.

Drink, cheer, yell, and be entertained. That's what the old girl offered and it was ******* beautiful.

The OB was unique. Not just as a stadium but the whole game day experience. Since they added the metal canopy to Hard Rock, it is much louder and the noise bounces back onto the field. The seat backs can be used as drums. When it’s packed it has the capability to be the loudest stadium in the U.S. Even some of the games where it’s not sold out (aTm several seasons ago for example) it was loud. OU 08, VT 17, ND 17, ND 25 all were loud. Hopefully it’s loud AF again for UF!

it was sold out many times. i miss the old girl
It was sold out for big games, no one said it wasn't. That said, if the game didn't have big stakes, or the Miami team wasn't all that exciting or relevant, people didn't show up. If you go back and look at the attendance figures, you could easily guess which years UF, FSU or both were home games.
