IMG Academy

My buddy's son graduated high school last year and is doing a PG year at IMG for baseball. 6'4" pitcher. Says it is constant work on the sport you want to play. Factory.

If that's the case then it's a little surprising that the football team isn't better than it is. Not that they aren't good, but with that talent and lack of practice restriction they should be all-world every year.

I don't quite understand how this post graduate thing works at IMG. So kids that graduate high school can go to IMG and compete for another year against high school kids? That seems really fair.

They would have to play against other prep schools or juco not high school kids

Isn't IMG the old Nick Bolleteri place where Agassi and the other tennis players used to attend? The place where guys would go to prepare for the draft, etc.?

IMG bought the location from Nick. It was his tennis academy, and still has an active role. They've expanded it into a sports academy.

From Wiki:

The earliest Bollettieri pupils to reach no. 1 were Monica Seles, Jim Courier and Andre Agassi. Later, Marcelo Ríos climbed to the top while associated with Bollettieri. The Williams sisters have a long-standing relationship with Bollettieri, having visited the academy for years, and they often prepare for Grand Slams there. Mary Pierce and Anna Kournikova also trained at the academy. More recent students training with Bollettieri include Maria Sharapova (who moved from Russia at the age of nine) and Jelena Janković (from Belgrade, Serbia, aged 12); both became no. 1.
