IMG Academy

Comber,

As i understand it, Brentwood isn't a bunch of slouches on the sports front either, right? Lots of Nashville money invested in athletics there. My brother in law has kids at a school nearby (CPA?, I think). He has told me Brentwood is very good in sports. Point is, IMG must be ridiculous, as evidenced by that roster.

You're thinking of the Brentwood Academy. and yes they invest a lot as well but IMG is a different level. My wife works at the public school. The point is IMG is not an institute for learning. It's an institute for staying eligible while they get you into a D1 program.

Which makes it about 10 X better an institute for learning than the schools in Dade County.

Meh. My wife said that this kids was a rising junior and had never taken Algebra 1 or an equivalent going into 11th grade. I believe that's a Freshman class. And no, he did not test out of it. **** is super shady

My wife works at Brentwood High School here in Nashville and had a kid transfer in from IMG. She said that essentially none of these kid's class credits were transferable and they had no idea what to do with him. The classes there are pretty much a facade for a giant sports program, as you well know. I'm really not sure how I feel about it. That's not high school in my opinion but I'm not a potential NfL draft pick either
Weii there goes the comparison to Oak Hill.

How bad could it be academically?

I believe IMG has been around for other sports for quite a while. We are always said to have ridiculous standards of admission and had no problem getting three students from IMG in this past year.

Isn't IMG the old Nick Bolleteri place where Agassi and the other tennis players used to attend? The place where guys would go to prepare for the draft, etc.?

Yea, IMG has been around for other sports. There are just getting a football program. All the underage tennis, soccer, and golf proteges went there to train before turning pro as soon as they reach their sport age limit.

IMG recruits both nationally and Internationally they have cough cough cough Angel donor tuition assistance for when it is needed.

This was IMG's against Trinity Christian which was loaded with D1 talent last year and also keep in mind Trinity won the state title by opening a can of whoop *** on American Heritage.

An for those talking non-sense about how any team from South florida would destroy IMG Academy lets apply the common opponent test. IMG played Trinity last year an whooped Trinity's ***. Trinity played American Heritage in the FHSAA 3A State title game an got embarrassed by trinity, so by then what do you think IMG would have done to American Heritage (who by the way beat a lot of SFL teams). An in a more direct comparison IMG has played alot of south Florida teams head to head over the last few years an beat them all.

There are some very good academic schools that take kids from IMG

An now that former UM QB Steve Walsh is the Athletic Director at IMG Academy I would hope Miami starts pulling kids out of there on a regular basis.

Go Canes

Now that Richt is gone from Georgia, any chances of us getting Isaac Nauta or no?

Don't really need him with the current verbal commits. We have Michael Irvin Jr coming in the njoku/Herndon hback split wide role. I like Nauta but doubt he is in play or a need

I'm from Bradenton where IMG is located. People go there and just focus on sports. It used to be just a huge prep school for soccer and tennis players. They recruit and parents pay to have there kids sent there to try to make it to the next level. Used to work at the movie theater right next to IMG it was a disaster when they rolled on every Friday night! Kids from all over the world go to that school especially for soccer.

My buddy's son graduated high school last year and is doing a PG year at IMG for baseball. 6'4" pitcher. Says it is constant work on the sport you want to play. Factory.

They play 8 games (half a season) and are ranked #1 in Florida and Top 5 in the country. I don't think it should be like that. They get crowned like Bama does (because of recruiting stars) instead of earning it on the field like everybody else.
