I'll let you all do the deep dives on what coulda/shoulda been last night. I woke up this morning feeling blessed at what this team was able to accomplish:
  • 10-2 season, beat all of our rivals, snuck into the CFP (knocking out Notre Dame in the process)
  • Proved the entire country wrong by beating two of the best SEC teams (TAMU, Ole Miss) and taking down the defending national champs OSU
  • Proved that we are championship caliber by going toe-to-toe with an Indiana team that is being compared to 2019 LSU, considered one of the best teams ever to win it all
  • We were within 41 yards of our 6th title with under one minute left - even after many mistakes throughout a game we were expected to lose
I hate losing, but I don't feel like a loser today - I feel like we proved a lot of people wrong, I feel like we've built something that isn't going away anytime soon, and I feel like we will be right back on that stage in the very near future.

See you all next September.

Well said and I feel the same. Hate losing that game but we had an opportunity to win. Great season that I’ll always remember. This team was fun to watch along with last years team. Mario is running the program extremely well and it’s built to last.

Great season!! Mario has put this program back to a national level where the standard will now be play for a natty or nothing. Love it! Miami was clearly the better team but loss to a couple errors on their end, but the fact that we are sitting talking about Miami playing for the natty is amazing. We can no start to raise our expectations for this program once again. Go Canes!

Beat our rivals ND, UF, FSU & VT

Back to Back State Champs

Beat the two teams in last years National Championship

Possibly the greatest run in UM history:

Syracuse, revenge game against Fran Clown
NC State, who hammered # 1 ACC GT the previous week
VT, hostile rivalry road game
Pitt, ranked road win, cold weather game
Texas A&M, 11-1 SEC, strong winds, hostile crowd 105,000+
Ohio State, 12-1 BIG 10, considered the most talented team in college football
Mississippi, 13-1 Best in the SEC, multiple players battling the flu
Faced teams with 51-3 combined record in the playoffs.

All this expansion talk is about is money. It’s to much for these players. Their bodies are not ready for this long of a season. Some of these kids are 17. Keep it at 12
Was just reading about expansion and based on where it stands now, it’ll be 12 teams again next year. I agree with what the other dude said. **** is actually exhausting playing CFP games at the end of January. Watching an NFL game and a college game is just different. CFB is like a whole days worth of energy. Games are longer, more chaotic, etc. Being a fan of an actual team who went all the way is different than just putting the games on as background noise last year lol

Best season in 25 years. A quarter century.

A little less than a minute and 50 yards from winning a sixth national championship.

Against the number one seed, who won their two playoff games by 30+ points each.

And we didn’t play a perfect game.

I wish we would’ve won but we didn’t and now we’re on to 2026.

Since it was Tuesday morning 5:20 when we lost I had to go to work directly afterwards.

I was so down the whole day and every colleague at work had to suffer due to my bad mood.
I replayed each individual play which did not go our way a thousand times..
I went home to my family and they did not enjoy my company as well (If I am being honest)

I promised myself to not visit Canesinsight for a long time (at least until after springball).

But after a long nights sleep I am back and so proud of this team. It was such a great ride (excluding SMU and Louisville).

So many great individual characters I am going to miss next season and so many young contributors I cannot wait to see again.

I am so confident that it is up to us when we are winning #6.
Not if, but only when.

staying at 12 and STILL going to January 25th. It's ridiculous.

They need to figure out the schedule - Working around the NFL is a big issue.

Grateful for what this team accomplished this season. Gave us our best season in 25 years. Gave me one of the best new years when we beat OSU.

Well said. This was a special season and an incredible CFP run. I thought the season was over after SMU but these players and coaches stepped up. I’m not yet fully over the “what-if’s” and ready to move on to next season but I’m getting closer.

College football is unpredictable and no team is guaranteed to make it back here anytime soon, but I haven’t felt this optimistic about our future in a long time. Go Canes.

great post!!

I was just hoping to get into the playoffs this year.

Then we beat a&m - icing on the cake
Then we beat o$u - cherry on top
Then we beat ole miss to get to natty - ice cream plus the cake

I was a pig in mud. Best year we’ve had in 25 years.

Let’s get #6 next year!
Go Canes!!
