As to how much money the referees had riding on that game?

As if OC and DC incompetence wasn't enough - nothing short of murder was to be called against Wisconsin.

If you leave it up to the refs you've already lost. High-level college referees will risk their career in a prime-time bowl game to ***** us? It was incompetence on their part too. I was at the Fiesta Bowl, I know robbery when I see it.

It's all fine and dandy to live by the credo that you "don't leave the potential outcome of games to the refs".
It still doesn't justify the phuckery that these folks get away with, and they should be called out - and to those
on this board who frowned on this being discussed, they should go sck dck.

Having said this, if anyone watched the refs did to Kentucky (vs Northwestern) a couple of days ago, this would
pale in comparison.

I agree the refs were horrible. But the cliche fan "how much did they get paid off or had on the game" routine is old and tired.

I would not completely scofd at the notion of refs getting paid.
Millions of dollars flying around in college football and it is a really dirty
sport.

If they were to do it, it would be in games off the national radar that wouldn't have as many eyes and scrutiny on it. The only case would be a single referee who got in deep with the wrong people. (See Tim Donaghy)

The only way we have a chance at winning big games is by having first round NFL talent on our team like 01. We will never get the calls, therefore making it impossible to beat the opposing team as well as the refs.
