I'm not defending targeting, but.....

The first one looked like more shoulder than anything else. The second one was nasty. Something bad could've happened on that.

The problem with the first one was that he launched into him; I think that is what made them ultimately stick with the call.

The call on Bush was terrible!

The same guy he was flagged for hitting caught a TD later in the game, and took the exact same hit. But he held onto the ball.

The call shouldn't be based on whether the guy catches it, or not.

I get the helmet to helmet call ... But guys should be allowed to launch themselves into the torso ... And the shoulders are considered the torso.

anyone able to post the plays that caused the ejections? A montage of all the questionable calls would be fun to c as well. I missed some plays being friendly with the supposed 'awesome' cornhole fanbase so many here have referenced...

Come on man! The NCAA made it clear that hits above the numbers would be flagged. Other teams have responded but our crappy staff still has guys hitting high.

You are not really putting this on the coaches are you? Bush was making a football play and hit the guy high. It happens with the speed of the game and an errant throw. Not sure anyone is at fault here.

I'd rather have strong penalties for this and save some young brains. Injuries are part of the game, but head shots can ruin lives.

Frankly, I don't know how carter and the other guy got up on the second one. The Nebraska guy went to his knees halfway to the sideline.

Agree in principle.
However, I am starting to see players get this penalty for hitting opponents in the shoulders, but not head, and that is BS.
When you think about it, these guys don't play alot of games at this level, and for many of them this is as far as they will go.
To erroneously suspend them for games for NOT hitting a player in the head is ridiculous.

By default, an offensive player is defenceless. The rule is one of the worst to be introduced in football. It's arbitrary, as players lead with the helmet on virtually every play. If they just stuck with what they used to call spearing..all would be well. Teams will have to be deeper at safety, play the 3rd 4th or 5th safety, get your big hits in, take the foul and insert your #1 /2 safeties.

"Still has guys hitting high?"

name me another time we've had a targeting call.

I will try to type slower so you can understand. To start the 2015 season the NCAA told teams that hits above the numbers would be flagged. Against its first big five opponent our team had both of its Ss ejected.

All season the NCAA has ejected about 20 players. So, we account for 10%................yea I think our coaches might hold some responsibility for this....................
