I'm gonna be that guy ...

Love the Internet tough guys who go straight to name calling.

Lol

Your right. Hands down. You won the idiot of the day award...!

So, do Tom Herman and Dan Mullen get credit for their impressive bowl wins, or do some of y'all still lack the vision to stop operating from the rear view mirror?

I've moved on, and fully support Richt. But the knocks on Herman and Mullen during this coaching search were ridiculous.

Houston dominated FSU ... Completely shut Dalvin Cook down, and got 5 turnovers. Also put up 38 points on FSU's defense.

And I don't care how bad you think NC State is ... Miss State put 51 on them dudes!

Herman and Mullen are legit coaches. We would have been lucky to get either of them.

But, in CMR I trust for this Canes program!

... Even though, I'm "that guy".

"Your"....yet you're the idiot.

Got it. So, you're gonna continue to evaluate from the rear view mirror.

Enjoy watching Michigan State play in the national semi-final game tonight. And remember that their HC was just north of .500 during his time at Cincinnati, and never won the conference. Somehow, he's figured things out ...

Happy New Year!

Most posters felt Herman was the real deal but were unwilling to take a chance on a first time coach with one season under his belt. Many did not like that he runs a spread option offense and a 3-4 defense. Miami can only succeed with a pro-style offense and a 4-3 base defense.

Did Herman ever sign the extension Houston offered? Regardless, he's the next head coach in Austin, Texas, sooner or later.

Mullen's detractors, of which I include myself, argue his record is padded with a 21-0 record against Division 2 opponents. Take away those cupcake wins and he's just below .500. Still is, I think, despite an impressive beat down of powerhouse North Carolina State. Where was NC State ranked? Oh yeah, they weren't ranked, so Mullen's 4-29 (or thereabouts) record against ranked teams remains unchanged.

I'm gonna be that guy.

Happy New Year.

What guy are you? Alot of programs are going to regret not hiring Herman and goes to UT and they return to their glory...USC, Texas and Miami will be in the playoffs before Georgia, or any other SEC program that changed coaches

Programs were trying to pry Herman from Houston, Herman didn't want to leave just yet. I think he's trying to build a contender in Houston before he goes for the next big gig.

i liked herman. he just wasn't leaving houston. u gotta think miami when thought richt wasn't in running contacted his agent. herman has stated he doesn't want to rebuild somewhere else when he can just build in houston.

houston has made some huge promises to him. i think herman is waiting for texas job . i also think mullen would of been a great choice. i liked fuente and babers also. richt though is the better choice at this time.

todd orlando and herman outcoached fsu. no doubt. it looked like fsu had never seen a blitz before. they never tried a rb screen or even ran at houston. all of things they should of tried. they tried to run at tackle or off tackle and houston killed them when they tried it.

i thought all those guys were better then butch. but i like the richt hire its a statement making hire that miami really needed. perception wise at the very least. fans were getting tired of going cheap and hiring some mac coach or a coordinator they could get on the cheap while passing up guys like mike leach.

So now Mullen is the next D'Antonio? The only similarities are the initials of both schools are MSU and both get their asses handed to them by Nick Saban.

I never posted that Mullen is a corch. To the contrary, I believe he has done a solid job at Mississippi State. Prior to his hiring the program was generally bad, and he has elevated the program to above average. This was not easy to do. He deserves the credit he's given.

I only dismissed porsters claiming Mullen was a proven winner when his FCS record proves otherwise. I had no issue projecting him as succeeding at The U.

That is all..

It's bowl season...every once in awhile a little sister punches the big dawg...Houston might be the nouveau Boise State...play nobody...get a good bowl game and you never know...it's one game...Houston showed up...FSU didn't

Why are some of y'all acting like people didn't knock Houston's SOS, their conference affiliation, and the fact that Herman is a 1st time HC?

If you're not one of those guys, this thread isn't directed at you. But there were more than a few folks on this board who would have lost it if we hired Herman, and they know who they are.

Caneinthebrain was the culprit

I think this site was close to 80% good on Herman, maybe 50/50 on Mullen.
You have to think more than a few schools reached out to Herman. He wasn't leaving this year.
