So, do Tom Herman and Dan Mullen get credit for their impressive bowl wins, or do some of y'all still lack the vision to stop operating from the rear view mirror?

I've moved on, and fully support Richt. But the knocks on Herman and Mullen during this coaching search were ridiculous.

Houston dominated FSU ... Completely shut Dalvin Cook down, and got 5 turnovers. Also put up 38 points on FSU's defense.

And I don't care how bad you think NC State is ... Miss State put 51 on them dudes!

Herman and Mullen are legit coaches. We would have been lucky to get either of them.

But, in CMR I trust for this Canes program!

... Even though, I'm "that guy".

What guy are you? Alot of programs are going to regret not hiring Herman and goes to UT and they return to their glory...USC, Texas and Miami will be in the playoffs before Georgia, or any other SEC program that changed coaches
 
Mullen will earn his money next year without Dak. I am extremely interested to see how well his offense is without him. That will show if it's the system or the player.
 
im not a big mullen guy. Herman was impressive with FSU. i mean he doesn't have his own players at Houston yet. at the same time, its one season. MR won 10 games a year for 15 years in SEC when it was at its best. also, his Coach Kool hire really impressed me. I'm more than happy with richt right now
 
Herman was my #1 by far. That guy just screamed old school canes. We would have been dancing, taunting, running up the score, and making fsu our ***** with that guy. I can even remember the last time we beat fsu and he basically just destroyed them with Houston. We're talking about Houston!

Who ever knocked Herman? He was mostly everyone's 1A target with Butch being 1B. Butch status changed when richt was thrown into the list
 
Why are some of y'all acting like people didn't knock Houston's SOS, their conference affiliation, and the fact that Herman is a 1st time HC?

If you're not one of those guys, this thread isn't directed at you. But there were more than a few folks on this board who would have lost it if we hired Herman, and they know who they are.

Lol he most certainly was not most everyone's 1a....go look at the polls posted. Butch was the overwhelming favorite. OP is right, the Butch crew had the most ridiculous arguments against Herman. He would have been the best hire.
 
C'mon OP. Everybody on this board outside of a few Butch diehards would've loved Herman and had him in their top 5. As for Mullen, you're really gonna gloat over a win over NC State in the Belk Bowl?

They put up 51, and won by +20. You don't think that's "gloat worthy"?

If it's a close game, or had NC State won the game, there would have been threads knocking Mullen. But everybody is silent, now ...

Guys were in threads talking about Mullen couldn't beat teams with winning records. Now, folks want to qualify the teams with winning records?
 
Most posters felt Herman was the real deal but were unwilling to take a chance on a first time coach with one season under his belt. Many did not like that he runs a spread option offense and a 3-4 defense. Miami can only succeed with a pro-style offense and a 4-3 base defense.

Did Herman ever sign the extension Houston offered? Regardless, he's the next head coach in Austin, Texas, sooner or later.

Mullen's detractors, of which I include myself, argue his record is padded with a 21-0 record against Division 2 opponents. Take away those cupcake wins and he's just below .500. Still is, I think, despite an impressive beat down of powerhouse North Carolina State. Where was NC State ranked? Oh yeah, they weren't ranked, so Mullen's 4-29 (or thereabouts) record against ranked teams remains unchanged.

I'm gonna be that guy.

You guys are acting like Herman was an option. FSU is over rated. Their players seem under developed. Besides Winston is gone.
