Now let me say this. I AM NOT saying this team is anywhere close to that machine. I am saying in terms talent, ability and depth, this squad has that same feel. I remember me and a friend talking about that '01 squad that summer and all we said was no one should come within 10 points of them (thanks to Larry Moper it happened once) and that is the same feeling I have now. Yeah, yeah Miami hasn't played a game yet blah blah blah, but so what.

Oh and on a programming note. Here's to you NCAA🖕. You tried to ruin this program twice and yet here we are. And here is a double 🖕🖕 to Nevin Shapiro. I can't believe that bucket of snuff spit has a podcast acting like he's the supreme Miami fan when he tried to help those NCAA maggots level the program.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Teams really stayed within 10 points twice n 2001 because BC was 12-7 before the crazy INT.

Kinda funny…..it’s nowhere near the same level of opponent, but I was thinking earlier we come out against Stanford and scare the **** out of the whole country like we did in Happy Valley to open the 2001 season.

For those of you too young to remember, the 2000 team had an incredible season and a lot was expected in 2001 (sound familiar?). We opened the season on national TV, at night, against Penn state. Upset alert right out the gate. Pretty sure it was a white out. They had a kid get paralyzed I believe the year before, Adam Taliaferro. He led the team out of the tunnel. It was pure chaos. It was Penn State’s night.

And then the game started. And the entire country said collectively, ho-lee-****. Miami is terrifying. The game was 30-0 at the half. We blew them out of the entire area code. An absolute WAGON was unveiled.

I was thinking the same thing happens this year in Palo Alto. Again, there won’t be 110,000 fans there. And Stanford football is not Penn State football. But I think we go out there and put the world on notice that, yeah, Miami football is not back. Miami football is here.

I think you’re onto something there. That’s the kind of message we need to send to college football. Drop 50+ and give up nothing but a garbage time field goal or touchdown at the most. Hopefully hand them a big fat goose egg. Then we will see if Notre Dame fans and all the other haters are still as ****y as they’ve been all summer. Hopefully Wisconsin at least keeps it close against ND in their opener as well so they’ll be crapping bricks thinking about November 7th. Who am I kidding, that’s the most delusional fanbase in sports so they’ll come up with some massive cope like “we’re saving our best plays for Miami” or something stupid like that.

Think it was a white out and they were celebrating something else too, can’t remember what it was. I remember DJ saying on canes doc 2 “dont invite Miami when you want to celebrate something cause we’re going to steal your shine”!

Not worries about how we start just get better every game. Not sure we or anyone else can replicate 2001, **** that team and 2002 were legit. Coker is the only reason anyone came within 10 in 2001 and we lost to OSU 2002!

I would love to blow people out for a completely different reason other than style points although that does matter some. One major benefit of blowing the doors off of teams early is the youngsters get real reps when the bullets are flying. To me, this was one of the things that helped cement Miami's dominance for so long. People had to wait their turn to start but when they got to that point they were exceptionally ready because they had substantial real game experience. Yes, this staff has shown they will play young players anyway if they earn it but blowouts give them a chance to do that even more while lessening the chance of injury to the starters. It's a win all around.

We went 8-3 under manny in the ACC with Nowhere NEAR this amount of talent and depth & especially This caliber of QB ..I’d be completely shocked if we don’t run the table with ND being the toughest test. Only way we **** this up is if Mario reverts back to his pre-SMU coaching philosophy

Tactics may change from game game, but his basic philosophy has not changed

2001 was the greatest assembly of talent of all time in college football. That said, this team should dominate opponents in a similar way. Go out and drop 60 on the Cardinal and never look back.

This. If we're not playing three deep, quality kids are going to transfer out. We need to be pressuring at all moments. Even if we're up by 5 scores in the fourth, that doesn't mean we can't field our 3rd and 4th stringers and let them loose. If they score, that's on the opponent.

I was at that game. It was a white out. It was also a blow out; exactly as you described. That place got loud for a moment, then real quiet the rest of the night.

You have to be careful when discussing white out games on here, because there is a large group of porsters who think that when the home fans do a white out, the players and tv viewers get confused on who is being rooted for

I’m not saying this year’s team is like the 2001 team except that’s exactly what I’m saying.

Lock thread

I’ll be at that game 🙌
