Illegal blindside block on 84

I've said it before and I'll say it again. When these crews start getting their personal information made public, they'll call games fairly for fear of retaliation. There are a lot of places around the world where soccer referees, for instance, would never even think about calling games with any bias because they know they could get their house BBQ'd.

One of the most ridiculous calls of the year. After the first FSU TD, they kicked off. Johnson returned it to about the 25. Of course, there was a flag. While watching live, the announcer called illegal blindside block. Never in my life have I heard that call on a kickoff, especially in the area where it was thrown. Like it's not even possible to blind someone in that area. I shook my head during the game knowing it was BS, but did not see a replay. Now that I have seen the replay it such a joke. 84 just straight up blocked the guy, there was nothing blindside about it. Not borderline, not even close. Just a good block. When you watch phantom penalties like this, there is no way someone on that field doesn't have money on the game. Little calls here and there can make up the spread. Making a team go 90 yards instead of 75 yards can be a big deal when it comes to kicking a FG versus getting a TD. Guess what, we ran out of time and had to kick a FG. Similarly, the bs PI on Horton. A phantom call that literally could be called on every pass play, but at a very convenient time if someone was trying to effect the point spread. However, an absolutely egregious PI on FSU's last TD is ignored. Again, the spread was on the line. You cannot tell me some of these guys in stripes have not mastered the art of manipulating the game in ways that benefit them. I simply refuse to believe it when such obvious stuff is called and at the same time phantom calls are made that effect the outcome of games.
I was with a few friends watching and we all went ballistic on the Horton PI call. I have literally never seen anything like what Horton did get called for anything ever! Then the illegal blindside block on the return had to be one of the most bizarre calls I have ever seen.

I thought the refs were the reason we are 8-0, no?

Side note - ACC refs have sucked for more than a decade. Ron Cherry used to be the kiss of death, but I'll always remember him fondly because he once gave a penalty to someone for "giving him the business."
One of the worst Ron Cherry calls in my mind was a Roughing the Passer call against Calais Campbell in a UNC game. I think it was 2005, but maybe 2004. Not only was Calais nowhere near the QB (he was a good 10-15 yards away), but the QB hadn’t even gotten knocked down by anyone and was still on his feet. Kid wasn’t even touched. 🙄

I noticed that darn near every ball spot for them was generous, and every one for us was at least a half yard short, and sometimes more. It was comical.

2007, if my memory serves me correctly. He ran by the QB, but didn't touch him. We picked off the pass, and they threw a flag for roughing the passer. Even the QB was surprised. How can you call something you couldn't possibly have seen? They have been doing that crap to us for years, and people wonder why we never won the ACC. Sure, we've stunk at times, but we have been abused by the ACC.

OPI and the illegal blindside blocks were utter nonsense. Totally designed to keep the score from getting too embarrassing.

**** the zebras and **** FSU.

ACC gon’ ACC

I swear we play in this conference with one hand tied behind our backs.

Every single year we could probably put together a 10 minute low light reel of this bum fückin us no lube.

Despicable

My favorite of the night was the 3rd down before the QB sneak play. Malik Bryant gets held so bad as the QB runs right past him. The official in the middle of the field stops watching the play and looks across the field, likely at another ref expecting a flag.

Is anyone else having issues playing YouTube clips on here? Before a couple weeks ago it wasn’t a problem.

The no calls that are bothering me are the blatant facemasks in both the UL and FSU games. Not the old 5-yard variety, but the full grab and pull. Happened to X at UL when reviewed a catch and I think it happened to Horton in this game in the same situation. Of course, they can't add the foul during the review but was hard to see how they missed them in the first place.
