I got you. Just not trying to judge the future based on the past. I think we all take for granted it literally can't get worse on offense than last year. Just don't want to settle for better than bad. We want to take advantage of the clean slate opportunity and reach for the stars.

You have to start the foundation with a vision. Manny has enunciated that vision with great vibrancy and detail, now we just need to see how he executes on it.

If we're just thinking about being better than before, we're never going to get anywhere. You don't build a championship team with that kind of vision. You have to start your plan with beating Clemson or Baga in the NCG three years from now and work backwards from there. What does that team that dominates the elite look like, and how do we get there? I believe it involves an evolutionary, if not revolutionary offense, and I'm not sure this guy is the best one to bring us that. I'm eager to be sold on it though, and I do believe Manny knows what he is doing.

They haven’t, Ive been to the practices.
 
This is a great hire. The folks ripping apart and over analyzing his past wouldn’t be happy if we hired Bill Freaking Belichick (Newsflash old timers, Butch ain’t coming back). Manny is off to a great start and I’m excited to see how the months unfolds with transfers and signing day.
 
This seems promising, especially after bracing myself for the prospect of it being Tee Martin....

I was cautiously optimistic with the Richt hire. I'm more optimistic now if for no other reason than we'll have a dedicated OC and new QB coach. It surely can't get any worse on O than it was last year and I agree that just being better than bad shouldn't be the bogey.

Manny has shown me enough so far that I can remain optimistic and hope that his stated vision can, and will, become reality.

Here's my thing and I dont mean this as an insult to anyone. I know its gonna make some people hot but you know how lil I care. One of the main reasons alfraud didnt cut it down here is because he came in with no d & tried to change our culture. He took a aggressive attacking 4-3 defense & turned us into a bland zone that required alot of moving parts buf mainly required kids to re learn what they've played like their whole lives. Where people are gonna get hot is how that relates to now. If were gonna stick to the whole 90% of our team comes from down here than you better stick to what they know already. Because if you expect the majority of kids to learn an entirely new system from the ground up than were setting these kids up for failure. Not only do we take away the instincts that make them who they are but we also ask them to mentally be all in. The south doesn't exactly breed the brains as elite football players. I know how it sounds but I cant clean it up anymore than that.

What is your opinion? Do you think he'll run a true spread or stick to what he always ran before?
 
On the surface Enos isn't the schematic innovator many of us were hoping for, myself included.

But his QB coaching and development was very impressive this year. The coaching climate is evolving so rapidly that it can be foolish to judge coaches based on what schemes they ran prior to the last couple years. Lots of West Coast offense disciples like Andy Reid and Marty Morhinweg are incorporating spread and wishbone elements now. The smart coaches adapt and I'll wait to see what Enos runs before I pass judgment.

The human component also matters. Some brilliant coaches can't manage a locker room. The offensive staff needs to be able to handle the inevitable cabal of eccentrics and primadonnas that are a feature of South Florida recruiting ground. I assume Diaz prioritizes leadership given what he's witnessed at Texas and Miami. So we don't know how this factored into the hiring process.

I think a competent scheme with quality QB play is a championship formula with last year's defense. Let's not overthink this and act like we need an absolute "home-run splash hire" to reach contention. We're Miami, not Oklahoma.
 
Is it too simple for me to be happy if someone, anyone, goes in motion to try and gain an advantage coverage wise? If the friggin’ bird goes in motion in the west end zone I will be pleased.

Not much will change; we're still going to line up and out-talent teams. I also don't think 1.) it works against the Clemsons and Georgias of the world, and 2.) it doesn't serve our recruiting backyard well.

I think if Mark Richt made this hire, people would be up in arms.
