If you aren't happy with this you're CRAZY!!!

I'm not mad, per se. I'm disappointed that we aren't implementing spread concepts.

Not much will change; we're still going to line up and out-talent teams. I also don't think 1.) it works against the Clemsons and Georgias of the world, and 2.) it doesn't serve our recruiting backyard well.

I think if Mark Richt made this hire, people would be up in arms.

All of Bama OC have sucked. Lane the only one that did anything special with that offense. You guys are acting like we hired Bama DC not OC

Blows my mind people think we wont be running a spread offense.

Air Raid? No. But were not going to be lining up in the I formation either.

Arkansas fans really liked him, and their offense fell off a cliff when he left. He's aggressive, creative, and is known for running both excellent scripted plays and being able to adjust.

Imagine being mad about a guy Bama, Georgia, UF, and FSU fans are all calling a good hire

I'm guessing you didn't watch much Bama football this year. Their D was suspect and their O is why they played in the NC game. Getting the man they saw as the best option to take the reins is a steal. As someone else said, UGA, Michigan, and Bama all wanted him at the same position. So are we really saying this isn't big news? I understand that the last 15 years of mediocrity has made us hesitant, but come on. This is a splash hire, just like Manny promised. The future is bright. Let's try to enjoy the ride back to prominence.

On the one hand, it's probably not a hire that CMR could have made. So that's a positive way to look at it.

On the other hand, it's far more the type of hire that CMR would have tried to make than what we expected based on what Manny said he was looking for and most of us felt we should be looking for.

Look, bottom line, here's some facts that we all know:
South Florida is not a hotbed for OLine or QB talent.
South Florida IS the epicenter of the universe when it comes to WR and RB talent.
The best way to equalize defficiencies at OL and QB and maximize your advantage at the skill positions is to run an up-tempo, massively multi-formation spread that widens and lengthens the field and keeps defenses off-balance with motions and false keys.
When you look at what teams like UCF, Syracuse and others are able to achieve with inferior talent, and consider what Miami could achieve in a similar scheme with a complimentary defense and the upper echelons of south Florida speed, it feels like a real missed opportunity to not be going out and hiring the best offensive savant we can possibly find.

That said, I personally have more to learn about this guy and am still approaching things with an open mind and looking to read and learn as much as I can. For now, though, I'm at "meh, minus" on this guy.

Time will tell.

Arkansas' offense fell off a cliff because they hired a spread coach to replace Bielema, and the roster will take a while to turnover.

Chad Morris is a better offensive coach that Enos.

His system is doing quite well at Clemson.

Bama fans are ****ED. He was associate head coach. Added to the staff their in 2018 and turned around their quarterbacks.

Bama and UGA desperately wanted him as offensive coordinator not QB coach and are shocked he chose us.

He will bring in Hurts and we will be competitive with anyone day one

Hurts will for sure come behind him. we need to think past this...

LOL - go back and watch highlights of his offenses at Arkansas (someone posted it on a thread here). It's all I-formation, two tight end sets!

Do I think he'll rely on that exclusively at UM? No. But he's never, ever, EVER coordinated an offense that relied on spread concepts.

i hear dat.....i think this guy will put it outside the hash, but lets see who lands at OL..

Clinically insane. We just hired Alabama's OC in waiting, QB Coach, and Associate Head Coach who also has head coaching experience and was in demand by Georgia, Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, and countless others. Is this board always like this? People have to just be trolling right?
No!! Just stuck on stupid because some fans have a inferiority complex since 2004.

being an "associate head coach" is like being a VP at a bank ... do you have any idea how that works ?
