If we hire Butch we will win 2 straight before he leaves.

Sometimes the BBB campaign is ridiculous, but I'm not even sure if this is crazy talk. If he brings in an all star offensive staff, I have the utmost confidence in him.
 
I've heard that Butch will be a failure because he lost to Virginia Tech in the 90's, therefore we should empty the bank account to get a guy whose premier win in his entire career is against Vanderbilt.

Butch went .500 in the ACC his last three years (4-4, 4-4, 4-4) at UNC and was 15-17 in 4 years in conference play. I guess taking UNC from perennial 5th in ACC coastal to 3rd in coastal is **** of a feat.

Meanwhile UNC is now ranked # 11 and sitting at 10-1, favored to win big this weekend and will play #1 Clemson for the ACC Championship December 5th. I know, I know there are 8 players on UNC's team that Butch recruited so he deserves some of the credit for Fedora's 5th year at UNC...

I would LOVE Butch as Head Coach with the right support staff, but this crap of Butch is the only answer is ridiculous.

I don't even think we make the playoffs. Hope I'm wrong. But I think people are setting themselves up for a massive disappointment.

I agree. Expectations have dwindled recently though...Golden hammered the Coastal goal into the culture of the program.
 
I have to agree these threads have gotten just plain ludicrous. And Im a Butch supporter and would be happy to see him come back. But the revisionist history here has gotten beyond absurd. Butch is NOT a "win right now" kind of coach. He's not going to have us winning anything within the next 2-3 years. Butch is the kind of HC that will start to stockpile talent which will take time to mature and develop. Once it does, he will have the program loaded with talent. Then it becomes a question of him getting the right assistants and a QB that can take it to the next level.

Best case scenario under Butch is similar to last time, and similar to his time at UNC, if you take away the suspensions and NCAA fiasco. He would have had a loaded team his last year but they had a ton of suspensions. Before that it was a plodding along kind of endeavor. Would be the same here. 8-4 type seasons until the talent matures, the defense solidifies, and then a break out year towards year 4 or 5, which would be around the time he probably retires.

All this business about we are in the playoffs in year 2 under Butch is fantasy land. Based on what?
