If we HAD to lose to a Coastal team, we're fortunate that it's UNC

You can pretend UNC is devoid of talent all you want, but that's just not true. They worst finish they've had in recruiting in the modern era is 5th in the ACC - obviously FSU, Clemson, and Miami are going to out-recruit them every year, but let's not pretend they haven't done well for themselves on the trail. Fedora can't run a program and can't coach, but he was no slouch at recruiting. Injuries, suspensions, and inept program management is what sunk their ship before.

You can reiterate tired narratives all you want - yes, we've out-recruited them, yes, we should have won, yes, we're a perpetual disappointment - but devoid of talent they are not. Everyone and their moms should have seen that they were a prime candidate to turn a corner this year with Mack - at least those paying attention.
Yep. They’re great. I’m convinced now that we should have lost to them.

Despite all the doomsday prepping around here, the Coastal is still extremely feasible this season.

UNC has Clemson (loss) and @NC State (potential loss) as their crossovers, as well as the usual Coastal slate. With Clemson as a nearly guaranteed loss, we come about as close as we can to controlling our own destiny in the ACC.

Before everyone else says it, obviously we still need to take care of business and obviously that's something we haven't been able to do in a very long time - but as much as everyone is griping right now, the sun has not set on our season. Beat UVA and take care of the Coastal underlings, and we can still have a shot to play Clemson in December. Our crossovers of FSU and Louisville are extremely winnable.

Go Canes!
Quite feasible if the ST's get their game together, JW continues to improve, and the D settles down and play like they did last year.
Still Enos can do some patchwork with the OL, but if the players think they can get on a roll, and see it, believe it and play like they want it, then it is a possibility....

Until I see otherwise, getting bowl eligible is the goal for this season. There’s no particular game where we’re overmatched and can’t win but they’re also all capable of ending in a loss minus the next 2.

The defense is not going to play like last year. There's no replacement for Willis. And it will take time for the DBs to make up the loss of Jaquan, Sheldrick, and Jackson. But if they eliminate the catastrophic plays, it will buy them time.

But to approach last year will still require a dominate tackle to emerge.

LOL. Another 2 win team that has us trembling. That should be a sign for us to quit yapping about winning the division until further notice.
It’s not so much about UL, they are the 6th game in a 6 week stretch of consecutive ACC games and immediately after FSU on the road. They’re not better than us but the timing makes it a trap game.

Tired of the coastal silver lining. All that gets you is a 1-way ticket to *** kicking at the hands of Clemson

Yup, for now—and you need to punch your ticket to that game and ***-kicking so that you get used to getting there and the big stage isn't too bright next time you get there.

Clemson didn't become some behemoth overnight. 9-5 (2009) won the Atlantic his first season, lost to Georgia Tech. 6-7 as his follow up in 2010.

Went 10-4 year three and won the ACC (6-2 in conference). Got his **** kicked in 70-33 by West Virginia.

Co-Atlantic Champs in 2012, lost tiebreaker to Florida State, so no ACC title game berth. Took a backseat to the Noles next few years with Jameis Winston era; didn't win ACC again until their run started in 2015. Thought they were ready for primetime in 2013; No. 3 in the country at home against No. 5 Florida State. Worked over 51-14.

Point being; Clemson had to slug their way through some years just trying to win the Atlantic, where they didn't win the division—losing to a Paul Johnson triple option; hardly a behemoth like the team they've become. Also had to deal with some years Florida State just had their number, despite them being a good team—2010, 2012, 2013, 2014.

Two games into the Diaz era and people are already complaining about the consolation prize of somehow getting to Charlotte and not being able to challenge a Clemson team over a decade in the making.

When you start trying to do math TEN GAMES from the end of the season in your head and then think your algorithm is so pristine you want to come on Canes Insight dot com and post it so your 'Canes brothers can get the same WE CAN DO IT-like final timeout scene in an inspirational sports story feeling...you know we're not making out of September without another loss.

Bruh...hate to break it to you, but we're toast. Book your tickets to the Gator Bowl or something.

Yeah, I put some really advanced mathematical insights in the OP. It’s quite a complicated path to get there so I had to run it by my old college physics professor.

Come on man. The path involves the qualification that Clemson will beat UNC. Not exactly a stretch.

If we had any preparation or discipline we’d be 2-0. We have a HC that’s in over his head, a clueless defensive staff, & a special teams coach that probably isn’t qualified to be a GA. Couple that with overrated players like Shaq, Pinkey, Pope, etc etc & that lands you an 0-2 record with many more to come.

That's 100 right there. Yet we have posters still saying we win out with the crap they seen

Even if we go undefeated from here on out, they still need to lose 2 games cuz they won the head to head match witch gives them the nod over us if they only lose to Clemson.

At this point I'll just be happy if we can defeat any ACC convincingly, playing sound football all 4 quarters and all phases of the game.

Let's start small OP, and go from there. Truth is we don't even have the foundation of a winning program yet.

Never in my life did I think a miami hurricane fan would say "we was fortunate that it was UNC we lost to". Then I take a look and see UNC is a 3 point dog Friday night at Wake Forrest.

Not only did the state of the program fall off the map so did the standards.
