If we can't get a stud tight end in the portal, can we make one?

I really wanna give the two playmaking TE's we brought in this year some real opportunities. And, with Pringle gone, I think we should really lean into Lofton as a truly hybrid player and give him more carries, reverses, wheel routes, and in general, find ways to get him the ball if he heals up and loses weight.

I want to know what happened with this kid

USF game he broke out and as much as we needed deep threat help, he really never did much else
He’s a freshman, likely wasn’t consistent: they trusted him enough to play when we were behind in the title game. Feel he’s going to be just fine with another spring and summer under his belt.

We stopped playing USF and played P4 competition. I think that's what happened lol
Sure I get that. Just kinda strange with the lack of downfield passing we didn’t find a way to get him the ball

He didn’t even play when CJ was hurt really or when we played some dog**** teams. Perhaps injuries

Was gonna say... wasn't Moore on the injury report a few times himself? Think he rolled his ankle and gimped up for a few weeks.

Is the plan to go with more of a spread 3/4 WR look with the lack of TE on the roster and the WR talent they’re bringing in? Rather than an Arroyo who lined up split out a ton throw someone like Moore out there. As our receivers showed you can still motion them in and have them block if needed

His snap counts went up in the games without daniels and the Pitt game (blowout)…He just didn't get a lot thrown to him.

He also had 4 catches vs. Stanford

Tough to expect a true freshman to come in and start especially given how much run game responsibility they'll have. It's a difficult position to play for freshmen. Really need Gilbert to take that next step as a TE and Lofton will have to fill in some snaps at TE/HB as well since there's nobody else on the roster. The Mueller kid has potential but he's way too raw to expect anything. Briggs needs S&C. Need one in the portal.
