then we beat Pitt comfortably with two middle fingers up for anyone that doubts us.

Ain’t no tl;dr here. Happy Thanksgiving, turkey is on the smoker, I’m letting it rip.

It’s been said, but holy **** this is an absolutely HUGE game for this program. People say it’s huge for Mario. Sure, but it’s so much bigger than that.

Miami’s brand is on the line. Our perception goes back well before Mario took over. We’re has-beens. Our highlights from the glory days are on VHS and look fuzzy on ESPN and social media. We’re a perennial 7-5 team with a few spikes that ultimately amounted to nothing. Actually, it’s worse than that…

When we have shown signs of life, we get demolished in the ACCCG, relegated to kicking a FG to avoid a shutout and confirming we don’t belong….or we blow a 21-0 lead and waste the #1 pick and generational offense, losing 3 of the last 4. Again, just like everyone knew we would because that’s what Miami does.

How many games have mattered more in the last 20 years? We’re on the cusp of back-to-back 10-win seasons. Conference and CFP drama aside, that’s a big deal. It has to happen. It’s in our control.

If we win, at best we have a shot at a conference and national title. Yeah, all that. At worst, we earn respect, shoot for 11 wins, and the cfb world can debate how ridiculous it was to leave us out of the field. The swell of support will grow, people will genuinely have our backs and be disgusted at the committee and anyone who agrees with them. All the while we’ll stand tall and say we did our part. Because that’s who we are now.

We already did the thing everyone knew we would. Choke job against Louisville, then the nail in the coffin by, of course, a former Miami OC and a bunch of players who couldn’t cut it at Miami. Miami being Miami. Again.

We lost, sure. So did pretty much everyone else. But we switched it up. We grew some balls and won some November games, finished strong. We didn’t shut it down and quit. We’re evolving. We’re putting together a two-season stretch you can’t help but respect and recognize as real progress. And there are signs it’s just getting started and will continue. This is tangible and sustainable.

We’ve convinced a lot of people we’re a playoff team. We have support and belief coming from all over the country. Miami IS different now. It would be an outright injustice to leave us out of the best 12 who go on to play for the ‘ship.

Then there was Pitt.

Ranked and just beat a 1-loss GT thought by many to be the best team in the conference. They’re at home, it’ll be cold af, and they’re playing for a spot in the ACCCG. A head coach who wants nothing more than to put Miami is its place. He could lose to ND by 100 and sleep like a baby so long as they beat Miami at home. Of course Miami loses this game. Obviously.

This one is massive.

Are we the same old Miami? Do we make everyone taking up for us regret it and remind them it’s pointless? Do we let our enemies get the last laugh?

Or are things different now?

People will remember what happens next. This dictates the narrative one way or the other. We’ll hear it the rest of the season, and next year will start with the same. And so on.

What this team does on Saturday echoes in eternity. No excuse to not come out breathing fire. Theres a standard, right? F’king meet it NOW. Unleash ****, nothing less is acceptable.

With all that, I guess there’s only one thing left to do…

36deg and sunny is not cold as F, especially when you’re wearing pads and moving around.

100%. Notre Dame went into PITT and pushed them around. We showed we can handle ND. Whole season on one game. Recent history has been unkind to us. People have grown accustomed to us fumbling, not finishing, not closing. We saw this against ND, UF, and FSU. We dont close. Last year against Syracuse…and so on. For this, I am a little skeptical…..but man for man, our players are more than their players. For 3 hours on Saturday, Miami players can break the stereotypes, change the narrative, start to restore the standard I grew up idolizing. The story on 2025 has at least one more chapter. How these boys script it…will stick to their legacy as ballplayers forever.

I just want the team to get to Charlotte somehow. I don't want to think about the Lofton drop against SMU and think what could have been every time i look back on this season.
