The door opens up again. This is the scenario that is getting talked about the least.

No matter how the committee spins the Notre Dame BS, it doesn't really change that they would have to make a critical decision for the 9 and 10 seed. Right now that's ND and Bama, but if both Bama and BYU lose, how do they keep Bama in with 3 losses when you know they won't put BYU in over Notre Dame.

The door could open for Miami and Notre Dame to be the 9 and 10 seed if Bama and BYU lose (convincingly would help even more)

Dont they always say they wont punish a team for losing in the conference championship game?
No ..they said it's just another data point. I don't see Bama dropping multiple spots...but I do see BYU dropping 1 or 2 spots if they lose.

Last year SMU went from 8th to 10th after they lost to Clemson.

Logically you’d think a two loss Miami would get the nod over a 3 loss bama team since they got steamrolled by a terrible FSU team we worked.

You’d expect us to get the nod over ND due to head to head matchup.

Then you remember it’s not logic, it’s money, it’s about the SEC & BIG10, it’s all been rigged from the beginning.

Of course NOT losing to Louisville or SMU would help too..

To be honest, if we don’t get in it feels like we would be better off as a G5 school. We’d easily stay ranked high enough to get that nod annually, especially with the schedules they play. It would be like the Big East days, we could be a G5 blue blood program! Lol

Goes back to the logic of if week 1 even matters. We might as well schedule cupcakes instead of tough out of conference matchups. We beat ND! That is being ignored and written off as week 1. Bama got destroyed by FSU, same logic is being applied.

It’s not about who you lose to. It’s about your preseason ranking and when you lose. If we had lost to UL and SMU early, and were ranked top 8 to begin the season, we could fight our way out (see Notre Dame’s climb from week 1 and week 3 losses to begin the season 0-2). We lost in mid October and very early November and that is a “more recent eye test” than losing your first 2 games like ND. Problem with ND, those are the only real matchups that they had all year.

I just wish these idiots at the CFP could look at themselves fairly and realize that they have a bias towards ND being in.
