If Perry, Williams, or Martell

Remember how 89% or more of this board, including some un-named writers, had Perry Daaa Gaaaw penciled in as the starter before he had even set foot on campus?

Good times.

(Lawrence is the exception to the rule when it comes to true freshmens QBs)

They have all summer to become separated, hopefully one of them shows that in the fall, otherwise there is one more option.
I don’t know how Matocha could be an option at that point. He wouldn’t have gotten enough reps with the 1st team to just step in and run it.

The reason I mentioned Peyton was the fact that throughout Spring ball NONE of our 3 QB's won the job which indicates either they all are so equally good it is hard to pick one or they all are so equally bad Enos doesn't know which one will do the least amount of damage. With a talent like Thomas we simply need a QB who will not throw INT's (ala Perry & Rosier last year) losing games from that position and simply get the ball in Thomas's hands plus the other playmakers we have. I would be thrilled to have another QB like Steve Walsh who (Greise like) managed the games. JJ stated that we lose games by making mistakes, we don't GET beat. The U and Clemson have more talent in reserve then most teams in the ACC. Bad field position and int's are we had such a crappy year last year. Hopefully we fixed the punting and next up is getting a QB who does not make mistakes. We have the talent to win most of our games.

Matocha will be in play for 2020, and not this season. Then things will get interesting especially given who all transfers out after not winning the starting gig whenever El Jefe and Enos make the decision. Then there’s also Van Dyke who could really liven up the QB room. Finally, consecutive years with a good problem to have for once.

I like Matocha's film when I watched it thoroughly. Legit 6'3" with good arm strength, accuracy, and ability to move in and out of the pocket. His mechanics and throwing motion need work though, you can tell he definitely plays some baseball the way he winds up that arm and Enos gonna have to correct that. No way to know how he'll digest the playbook and if he has leadership traits, toughness, etc. But Matocha has legit potential so wouldn't be surprised if he played at some point in his career assuming he doesn't transfer.

I like how he consistently leads his receivers setting them up for YAC that is what impressed me. The other highlights often the receiver has to wait for the ball,

Do not care who wins the QB battle. Just want the one that wins it to be good enough to lead the Canes to the ACC championship game.

Lawrence was the best QB recruit in the country. Had the height and an incredible arm and still didn’t start until 5 games into the season. Let’s dial it back a little bit and blow into a breathalyzer before the next post.
Wildest thing about Lawrence is he looked HORRIBLE in the Army All-America game and I thought Williams looked much better. Wondered what the big deal about him was. First impressions were wrong lol.

the artist formerly known as brooklyndee had some positive things to say about Matocha as a potential starter down the line for us. That being said dont think there is any chance we send him out there week zero against Florida.
