Highlights If Only You Didn't Suck, We Would Be Better

yup and by next season opener it'd be about 2/3s Mario guys. by year 3, it'll be all Mario or should be mostly Mario. It kinda sucks that the 24 schedule is rough bc it'll be another 4-6 loss season but that one will be more understandable given the way Mario wants to build and how tough that schedule is
You should start rooting for Ole Miss. Unless daily complaining is your kink.

you should expect more from a 14 mill staff instead of caping up for them every time after embarrassing result after embarrassing result
You’re taking this too seriously for someone with zero skin in the game.

And to be clear, I as disappointed as any fan. I also realize all the whining and smart *** posts in the world will not alter past outcomes. I have no interest in being a mope and complaining and taking a negative attitude looking forward. I choose to be a fan and hope for better days and enjoy college football for what is…entertainment.

well I donate so I have some "skin" in this game. id like my donations to go for something. the thing for me is that I didnt expect anything more than a division title or at least contention for that given the returning offense (QB) and supposedly better coaching. we could surely turn some of those one possession losses into wins (UVA, UNC, FSU from last year) given how bad each of those teams are or hole filled. the schedule wasn't very tough this year so it was a good opportunity to even win earlier than expected. what we got is embarrassment and frankly a poorly coached team whose players seemed to have said **** you to this expensive and overpriced staff at this point. thought wed be done w these stupid losses at least to the team we paid to come down here and get an *** kicking. the hope I have is turned into ehhhhhh ill believe it when I see it when you get Manny Diaz type losses in year 1 w a coach who has 10 years of experience and is on a 10 year contract. this roster isnt great but it isnt as bad as we have performed in those 2 killing losses. when Manny lost those games, we got threads about firing him on the spot. w Mario, bc hes liked, its excuse about culture bs.

Fair enough on your donations. Good for you. Well done.

As one of my teacher’s teacher would say, “Right now, it’s like this…”

Fair point. But it’s also fair to point out that their less heralded first year coaching staff beat our first year coaching staff, with the same talent differential that allowed us to dominate them last year when you account for portal additions on both sides.

Agreed.

As well, its fair to point out that Duke's previous head coach was David Cutcliffe, a guy who was known for running a solid program for many many years. The Canes previous head coach was a guy who had no experience in the role and was shown to be running a lackadaisical program rooted in unaccountability. Perhaps there's something to be said about the cultural starting point of each first year coach. Perhaps...

that team had 5 wins the last two years combined. culture guy or not, those losses destroy everything

I'll believe him when I start to see more and more freshman and sophomores take the field to start developing the young talent because obviously can't teach the old guys anything. idk all i remember is how much i hated the Manny hire and how livid i was to be stuck with him last year. the boards were nuts with how bad the regime was the program was sinking (or was sunk) yeah, we went 7-5 last year but honestly, we were pretty close to 4/5 wins if it wasn't for a little luck. we just got excited about the back end and what could have been with a supposed better staff. Manny set this program back we all used to talk about it i mean imagine our recruiting class last year and this year with Manny. we were all yelling how big of a dumpster fire it was last year with Manny and kind of forgot that with all the shiny new hires and money. this year is a wash, but we need to see a pretty big improvement next year especially with the portal being there. also, i know we hated him but even a hs kid came down here and saw how bad the locker room was and lazy and ok losing. it's going to take time to weed all that out and get the players knowing what it takes again.

Whether any of us like it or not Mario will be here for at least 3 or 4 years. Just hope he can turn it around. Biggest need is hire a good OC and let him run the offense.
3 or 4 years? He signed a 10 year 80 million contract.
He’s going to be here a lot longer than 3 or 4 years. He’ll be here at least twice as long as that.
If he doesn’t get this right we are beyond screwed, we might as well shut down the program at that point.

We'll know soon enough if he's right. If these players ball out at another school or the NFL, he was wrong.
I’m not making any excuses for this staff, they could and need to do better with what they have but none of these upper class man are going to ball out anywhere. Plus, most of the decent upper class man have been hurt all year.
- Players on the OL are garbage.
- Linebackers are garbage.
- Corners are trash.
- Our available running backs are garbage, except for Parish who’s OK.

Really? What evidence can you provide to support this opinion?
you guys used all this culture nonsense here due to years of losing but somehow a duke team that won 5 games in 2 years is somehow absolved from having bad culture bc Elko out coached and his players out played ours? which is it? again, the culture isnt great but thats a crutch to excuse what were seeing on game day bc duke was the worst p5 team in the country the last 2 years. losing breeds bad culture.

It's just tone deaf.

Complaining about the roster after losing to MTSU and Duke is just not the right time to do it.

After a close loss to A&M? Sure... Say something about "we're not there yet with depth/talent."

But losses to MTSU and Duke, let alone blowout losses, are just unacceptable. By any Miami team.
But look how we are getting beat. We aren't just getting out schemed, the players are consistently losing one on one battles against the other teams players. Missing one on one blocks or getting pushed back, fumbling, missing tackles, getting beat in coverage.... The players are not beating the players across from them.

if you're mad at that, you're just mad because he said the quiet part out loud.

if you've been a fan of this team or alum from this school at any time prior to Larry Coker you know what the standard is and you know we ain't been at standard for a long time.

Be mad at who you want...but you know.
Exactly. Just because some posters use the word "elite" with every other recruit we have signed doesn't make it so. We haven't recruited all that well and our coaching has been HORRIBLE for years. Anyone who thought MC would microwave us a ring is a full-blown DONKEY. I was wrong in thinking this was just a rebuild. It's a tear-down and rebuild. Our roster is weak and a lot of that has to do with the lack of development under previous staffs and mediocrity becoming the standard. Coach has his work cut out for him. I'm still a believer in Mario.

Go Canes!

Very likely any talk of buyout won't occur until Y6-ish.

Hey muppets, maybe UHealth can contribute some $$$$....

🥴🥴🥴🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mario is obviously playing the "I didn't recruit these guys" card. And fine it's very true, and yeah somewhat good to play especially being 3-4.

So Mario in a way is asking for more time. I for one am totally willing to give it to him. He better recruit his a$$ off this year.

We will see what the future holds. I am actually pretty optimistic about the future. I really am
I don’t think he’s playing a card, he’s just telling what is, and it’s facts.

I get it now. We still suck, but there's hope for our future. 🤔
Underrated post! 🤣🤣🤣

We look horrendous in all phases of the game, and our corching staph looks clueless week after week, but posters have hope and faith in the same person that chose this OC and scheme.

Makes sense.

I don't get it. He was asked a question and answered honestly. Should he have lied with some generic coach speak when the proof is on the field? Not to say Mario isn't somewhat responsible for this year's mess by hiring a terrible OC who wants to power run without a power running OL or backs but this article is the least my worries under Mario. He needs to change his offensive philosophy or we will have plenty more seasons like this year.
What evidence has Mario shown you that would lead you to think that he would ever change his offensive philosophy?

He’s been a head coach for long enough that we have enough data to show that he’s always preferred the slow, plodding, caveman offense. Even while now running spread and passing, we are playing at a crawl.

Even when down big in the 4th quarter, he’s still running the ball too much, and having the QB check with the coaches first, as the clock bleeds seconds.

He’s a terrible game day coach in all facets. He would need to have a huge epiphany, and hire an aggressive and innovative OC and DC, and just recruit and roster manage. I doubt that he’ll do any of this.

Stop saying it's not acceptable?

So we should start accepting it?

What exactly are you saying?
‘Unacceptable’ is something you say in a position of exacting consequences. When people in their living rooms shout it and write it on a message board, it means nothing. Especially this early in a new coach’s contract.
