If Mark Richt does what he did at UGA...

Miami, usc, Ohio state Michigan, bama, and lsu are the only fanbases that should expect ships. Period.

Based on your logic, why shouldn't fans of Auburn, Florida, and Texas have those expectations?

They've all played for multiple titles in the same time frame since Miami last won anything of significance.

Auburn, maybe. Why, as a hurricane fan, would I list fsu or Uf? Fuq them and their fan bases. No one cares about their expectations. I was going to add Texas but I don't think they should expect shid either, in my heart of hearts.

No one knows Texas as a championship winning program but grey haired longhorn fans.

I think what people are forgetting is one would need to accomplish what they did at UGA before getting the National Title. Averaging 10 wins a season and winning the division and conference would put recruiting into the stratosphere!

People like to say "he had talent at Georgia and didn't win a ship there". Man, there is talent all over the **** country. Always has been. What i love about Florida(miami) talent is the mentality. You could take a guy from Dade county and a guy from brooklyn with the same attributes, athletically.

But, mentally, the guy from dade will be much tougher and will want it far more than the brooklyn guy 9 times out of 10.

It was like the time I watched Georgia's best high school football team play Booker T in one of the those nationally televised games.

With all of the talent that Georgia team had. They got smashed by Booker T to the tune of like 50+ nothing.

Booker T was a much smaller team too. They were just tougher, grimier, and wanted it more. I think Chris Herndon played on that team too. Probably why he chose to come play with some Florida Boys!!

Richt knows the type of Animals he will be able to mold here. He knows the expectations.

He'll rise to the occasion!! :sneakiness:

You must be out of your ******* mind with that Bull**** you talking..

You ever been to Do or Die?

He'd be celebrated by the limp-wristed losers who have overrun our fan base. We had fake fans still sucking up to Folden in 2015. They'd be paralyzed with glee if Richt wins 9 per year like he did at UGA.

UM fans shouldn't lower our expectations to below a second tier program like UGA. What he did at UGA wasn't good enough for UGA. It shouldn't be good enough for UM either.

What he did at UGA was far more than they should have ever expected.

Totally disagree. That is a very good job, a national championship caliber job, and he had it for 14 years. During that time LSU won national championships with 2 different coaches, Florida and Alabama won multiple titles, and Auburn got one with a first year head coach. He was at Georgia longer than any of those guys had their jobs before winning a national championship from the same conference

I am not bashing Richt, although I was clear that he was not my first choice for our new HC when we all were commenting on the process. So far it seems like a new, or at least reinvigorated, Richt at Miami. I'm all for that and hope he kills it here. I love many things I see from Richt at Miami and am pleasantly surprised. But don't tell me he over-performed at Georgia.

He took UGA beyond what they're capable of, they've only once sniffed the national title and since that and up until richt they were just another school you beat the *** out of.. just above a university of kentucky if you will

there's a cap on how good you can be at certain schools, UGA is one of them.. a second tier from the others just like south carolina

the fact he almost got them to the national championship twice is amazing

You sound like an average hick FSU cowboy fan you know that?

"well they're our rivals so i'll disregard any logic and just say *** em"

...hick

Texas, oklahoma, fsu, washington, notre dame, and Tennessee at least belong on this list

They have all "that" to get it done and expect to be in the running at least here and there

Can't put florida there because I just think they don't have the toughness to get it done, their pedigree of busts in the NFL tell a very untold story about that

Ok, I'll take Oklahoma and Washington. Def. Not Tennessee and **** sure not fsu or notre dame. I'll forgive you for calling me a fsuboy fan. Rivals get no love from me. You're the type of guy who plays football and helps a dude up after you tackle them. I'm the type to step on ya chest. I don't even drink gaytoraid. I'm THAT type of fan.

I'll leave the sportsmanship and sound logic up to you.

Championship History
1980 Georgia

Uhhhh, no he didn't

Georgia has two "claimed" national championships one in 1942 and one AP title in 1980. It's been 36 years since UGA won a title. They've been a good but not great team regardless of Georgia talent.

Mark Richt finished with a 145-51 record in 15 seasons.

The previous two coaches (Jim Donnan and Ray Goff) combined to go 86-53-1. So Richt clearly raised to level of success at Georgia.

Richt has a higher winning percentage than Vince Dooley. The man who's widely considered Georgia's greatest coach and the only championship winning coach at UGA in the modern era.

Now, it's clear that for whatever reasons, things had gotten stale in Athens the last few seasons. Georgia felt that Richt was no longer the guy to get them over the hump so they made a change. I don't blame them, expectations got a lot higher during his tenure so nine or ten wins just wasn't cutting the mustard anymore. That said, since the early 80's Georgia hasn't actually sniffed a national title so if their fanbase is truly expecting them to compete for titles year in and year out, it's not because of some kind of championship history.
