It’s not about his ability to bring in a 5-Star QB. I believe that definitely can. It’s about his willingness and ability to install an offense that will maximize said QB’s talents.
He had so far not proven that he can. He had Herbert and grossly misused him. That was the biggest complaint from the Oregon fan base. Now he has a very suspect QB leading his troops. Huge red flag, in my opinion.
I like Mario. I think that he’s a good CEO. He’s definitely not an X’s and O’s kind of coach. But if he wants to be elite, he needs to realize at some point that his outdated offensive system is not gonna cut it.
Also, I’m willing to bet that if Cincy and Michigan play in the playoff, Cincy will beat them. Michigan has zero passing game. Their QB sucks. Cincy has a very good defense. They will stop the run and force them to throw it. Cincy’s QB and offense is much better than Michigan’s. They will light them up.
