You have new big money coming into the athletic department. These folks are billionaires. You think they are keeping Cristobal around because they all remember a favorite incident at Swenson's senior year? Cristobal or Kiffin or any other qualified head coach is going to get 5 years.

First, Randy Shannon did, in fact, have the backing of most of the Board of Trustees. Until he didn't. Second, Mario Cristobal is not "hand-picking" his AD. He didn't like Beta Blake, but your post is simply ill-informed.

Coaches lose...coaches get fired. But you appear to be arguing that Miami would tolerate a decade of 7-5 seasons from Mario simply because (a) he has the backing of the 2021 BOT, and (b) he handpicked...oh, I don't know, the mystery name of the mystery AD who has not yet been hired.

It’s not about his ability to bring in a 5-Star QB. I believe that he definitely can. It’s about his willingness and ability to install an offense that will maximize said QB’s talents.

He has so far not proven that he can. He had Herbert and grossly misused him. That was the biggest complaint from the Oregon fan base. Now he has a very suspect QB leading his troops. Huge red flag, in my opinion.

I like Mario. I think that he’s a good CEO. He’s definitely not an X’s and O’s kind of coach. But if he wants to be elite, he needs to realize at some point that his outdated offensive system is not gonna cut it.

Also, I’m willing to bet that if Cincy and Michigan play in the playoff, Cincy will beat them. Michigan has zero passing game. Their QB sucks. Cincy has a very good defense. They will stop the run and force them to throw it. Cincy’s QB and offense is much better than Michigan’s. They will light them up.

I see no way possible for Mario to fail. Worse case scenario we play in the conf champ game 4 out of 5 seasons. Not what we want but that worse case. I also feel we would get that from Lane.

also D money said Mario isn't happy with the QB room which was his room. if he doesn't think the five star frosh he brought in isn't good, then that's another red flag imo (im already down on his O). the QB room wont be an issue with TVD here but he'd have to recruit Garcia to stick it out at Miami

I understand the emotion. I do. But we are likely to fire Manny after Year 3. It's not like we have been stuck with him forever. Maybe we never should have hired Manny, but we are certainly not waiting forever to fire him. Between September 2021 and November 2021? That's not some sort of eternity.

I think Lane is the right hire, think he would kill it here, but if it is Mario, I wouldn't hate it. I think he's a huge upgrade on Manny and could be pretty successful here in the mediocre ACC. I'm not saying he turns into Bama, but could get us consistent 10 win seasons. A lot has to do with his staff obviously, the coordinator hires would be hugely important.
