then our defense is going to improve as well.

If Fedora brings in that no-huddle, quick pace offense - our defense should start putting in some time to build up stamina! They're going to be running their tails off!

And with the creativity that Fedora brings - they'll have to learn to defend more than Richt's six plays.

It's a win/win.

That's Old Canes stuff right there. Practice against the best - and get better than the best.

Sure going to be an interesting year - and can't wait just to see out position coaches and strength coach.

Need to start practicing 1s vs 1s not that soft **** Richt was doing.

Hit and tackle 3 times week. Practices need to be ****
I get what your saying and yes, I'm an OG gung ho **** for sure, but there's nobody hitting and tackling in practices anymore past August. Occasionally thuds in season. But yeah, we need to compete every day. Practice needs to be brutal when we start back later this month with whatever the new winter protocol will be.

Going up against in practice the kind of offense we see pretty much every ACC team run, can only help the defense.

And we got the atheletes to do it! Offensive line still needs help. Oline coach critical

That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I know for a fact OSU tackles 2-3x a weeks during the season

I had that thought as well. How good will our D be when they face a real O all the time?

This may be true, but Manny is “ahead of the game” on player protection. Spoken extensively about to Bill Connelly, others. He’s more likely not to have contact for a whole week than he is to have multiple 1v1s a week, IMO.

I think you're right on Manny. Most schools may do a tackling drill 1xweek during season or less. Drill is usually technique work and many times with pads on the ground for protection. I'm pretty sure NFL banned tackling in practice during the season. My boys at Yale told me they do no tackling once they break camp mid August. I'll ask my Ohio State GA kid what they do now. I know had Urban had his way, they'd tackle every day probably. Lol.

No more bull in the ring, that's for sure.

You right bro. It's a different **** era. I miss old school practices like many of us remember, but I understand the safety 1st initiatives of today. I spoke with a Big 12 coach and MWC coach (asst coaches) They say they haven't tackled during game weeks in several years now. They say the big thing now isn't even safety but instead "recovery".

That's interesting. I remember coaches with holding water if they were mad.

Our HS coaches withheld it even when they were happy. Not kidding. They told us that drinking water causes you to cramp up. We were loyal enough (and ignorant enough) to believe them. And yeah, this was in Miami.

Nobody practices 1 vs 1. The 1s practice against a unit mimicking the opponent, you’d have to have the ones learn the other teams formations plus practice their own game plan.
