If Bama loses we are screwed

If Bama loses they’re out. Period.
Not true, the only reason they went up a spot is to ensure that with a loss they are still in contention. What OP said is correct, they want to show it has an impact so they will drop them 1 spot and move ND above, but they will still be in the playoffs. You are crazy if you think the #1 seeded SEC team after the regular season is not getting in the playoffs.

With a loss, Bama drops to 10 and ND rises to 9. That shields ND from Miami. We need them exposed on the edge at 10 and BYU to lose.

That is the only path to the playoff.
So now you compare a 3 loss alabama to miami and their strengths of scheduled and their common opponents which is FSU. We may be in either way.

They got an extra spot of protection today, they want to avoid dropping the SEC runner up
I wish the committee would have moved Miami up over BYU. It would send the message thst BYU needs to win the Big 12 to get in.

If BYU and Alabama both lose, I think each moves down 1 spot keeping Alabama at 10.

ND won't automatically move to 9. Teams 9,10, and 11 would require comparison. Miami would get the head to head comparison to ND being in the same grouping. Miami would be #9 or #10 at worst. ND is out in any scenario. They just don't know it yet.

BYU already understands they need the B12 championship because they are first out rn.

Told y’all… It. Is. A. Wrap. Done deal. Been that way since SMU.

Yes. That's why Miami could have been ranked #11. Miami has played more dominate games than BYU.

If BYU and Alabama both lose, the committee will move both of them down 1 spot keeping Alabama in at #10. That's the reason why Alabama moved up. The committee is guaranteeing the SEC runner-up is in.

As I wrote in another post in this thread, ND is out regardless of what happens on Saturday. It's going to come down to ND vs Miami. As coach Mario brilliantly said, "We're in. Head to head has to be the #1 comparison in any sport." It was so smart to put that out there. It's literally a bullet point for the committee. They can't dance around it in favor of ND. ND's best argument is having 2 better losses than Miami. That's it. They can't argue any other point. Both teams are good. Both teams are playoff worthy. Miami owns the head to head. End of story.
